JWP deserves a mention too – 91% pass completion (incl. 2 key passes), two successful crosses and 5 attempted tackles, 3 more than any other player, demonstrating how well he put himself about. Clyne will have impressed Hodgson too, completing all 3 of his crosses, 86% pass completion, 2 interceptions, 3 clearances and no fouls conceded. Edited 9 November, 2013 by Minty Hull's stats added in brackets just to highlight the gap!
dubai_phil Posted 9 November, 2013 Posted 9 November, 2013 Passes attempted: 542 Passes completed: 454 Pass %: 83.7% How do those numbers compare to Hull?
Minty Posted 9 November, 2013 Author Posted 9 November, 2013 How do those numbers compare to Hull? 249/342 completed (73%)
dubai_phil Posted 9 November, 2013 Posted 9 November, 2013 249/342 completed (73%) So again, as with Fulham almost double the number of passes. That is truly impressive by any standards
Minty Posted 9 November, 2013 Author Posted 9 November, 2013 Added Hulls stats to the opening post... passing is obviously way ahead, but look at the crosses... cross completion is obviously a combination of accurate delivery, movement of the attackers, and agility/positioning of the defender, so credit all round to our players to dominate such a stat.
richard Posted 9 November, 2013 Posted 9 November, 2013 I like reading the stats when they show that Southampton are really good at football. If they were like: possession was split 57% / 43%, that would be really dull. Morgan's stats from today are fantastic though. The fact that he performs like that every week just shows what a great footballer he is, and that he really deserves to be in the French squad.
