Steve Bruce: Respect due

We were discussing him earlier actually during the game.

Aside from being a gentleman, he's a very good manager, and has done brilliantly well getting Hull this far. Certainly the sort of sensible and stable manager you'd trust with your club, even though he might not be the most glamourous.

Didn't know about the Sunderland interest in Adam.

"And Lallana ... I went to watch him four years ago when he played at Carlisle in League One when I was up at Sunderland but the lad wanted to stay here and they've reaped the benefits of that. He's got a big future – he's an exceptionally gifted footballer

He's a Championship manager and a bit of a Neanderthal. Every time he's managed in the Premiership it's been a disaster. Hull's wheels will fall off sooner or later. IMHO.

Eh?

Sunderland aside, where he had a decent season before a bad run. Where else has he been a disaster?

Agree he isn't the most forward thinking, and not the most exciting, but he is a solid premiership manager.

Utterly moronic statement.

Solid mid table performances with not one, not two but three Premier League sides. And on track for a fourth.

Pray tell, which club has he been a "disaster" at?

He was relegated with Birmingham and damn nearly relegated with both Wigan and Sunderland.

What seasons did he "damn near relegate" Wigan and Sunderland then? He saved Wigan following a disasterous start to the season under Hutchings I think. And he took Sunderland to solid mid table and was sacked probably prematurely and it's not like they have done any better since.

And needless to say got the Sunderland job because of his good record at Wigan also known as not "damn near" relegating them.

A refreshing response, and as said above a welcome change from the likes of Holloway, and most of the big club managers who'd pin defeat on the ref or their own bad luck rather than credit the opposition.

My judgement of Bruce has been impaired by his association with Man U, although even there he seemed a lot more acceptable face than the Rio's etc. Had forgotten he was overlooked by England, travesty if Pallister was capped.

I think his managerial career has probably been blighted by some poor club choices really.
