Lallana

I am eating a bloody big slice of humble pie at the moment. I was critical of Adam on the back of last season, however his performances this season are getting better and better. Well done.

No, you called it correct at the time... Pre-season has resulted in a stronger and quicker Lallana and he is unplayable at the mo

what is brilliant is that it is like putting two figures up to all those who deserted the club when we went to Div 3 (sorry old name)' date=' he stood by us and now reaops the benefits, a true Saint in my opinion[/quote']

I'm glad he is still inside our tent peeing out. I sure as hell wouldn't want to see him playing for another team peeing in!!

Not saying this lightly but has potential Legend status. For me, he is playing the best football I have seen him play - MP has instilled a confidence in him that I've not seen in AL and was the element that was missing. All IMHO of course.

Agreed I have grown up watching the true greats Paine, Channon, Holmes and Le Tiss, Saints fans love loyalty

What a sheer joy it is to see one of 'ours' come so far in the game and play so brilliantly at the highest domestic level.

Adam has always been blessed with an exceptional attitude, energy level, and ability to control a football at pace. Last season it may have taken him a little while to adapt to the burden of captaincy and not always being the best player on the pitch anymore. Injury may also have hampered him. But I never thought for one moment that he was nearly as bad as some on here - yes I'm thinking of you Roger - claimed he was.

The next big step of course is international football. Playing so well (quite literally) right in front of Roy Hodgeson today he could not possibly have done his case any harm at all. Indeed, if the collective will of St Marys could help him force his way into the national side then he'd already be there.

Just keeps getting better. Defenders have no idea which way he is going to go, this has always been his best trait as a winger.

I am still amazed at how he has noticeably got faster in the last few months. Must be benefitting from the training regime and staying clear of injuries. I

The season we went down from the championship I slagged him off and said he wasn't up to standard.

Since then I've been proven wrong at each level.

Today, for me at least, he proved he's international quality. His fitness and sharpness are up a gear and he's obviously been taking running lessons from usain bolt.

As rounded and stand out a performance as I can remember from a saint in a long time.

We really are watching good times with this lot, I just keep everything crossed that we don't lose too many in January

Lallana was absolutely shocking last season and beginning of this, absolutely delighted to see the MASSIVE turnaround he's made in his performances, demeanour, goal-scoring and work-rate.

No. He was very good last year until he got injured, that injury hurt him and he's now back to his best. Awesome performance today and this season in general. Talent

I can't confess to having seen every AL performance, but I can say that having seen a great many that was a stand out one today. One to bank, treasure and remember. He was worth the ticket money alone, and he should be a beacon to all young professional footballers. A loyal leader, a sportsman, and overall a good all round guy. Hats off to you Adam, that young man was a performance to saviour. For those that criticise last year's performances please reflect on on what it takes to be a top class sportsman. being picked and asked to perform when you are clearly not fit does have it consequences in your performance.

I posted on a thread earlier in the season that he was "five a side" player, who flattered to deceive. I genuinely wanted him to come good, but just didn't think he would.I still stand by my opinions at the time, as I do feel he was off the pace, where I was 100% wrong was in the assesment that he couldn't do it. Wow, the past half a dozen games really have shown me to be a chump. This needs to be the start, if he can build on it and maintain these levels for a few seasons we'll be in legend territory.

I stand by my criticisms of him at the end of last season and the beginning of this. He DID take too many touches. I found that to be frustrating as it slowed us down.

Now, with such a sense of belief and confidence flowing through the entire team it seems he now has full belief in his own ability and as someone posted elsewhere he knows what he can do and goes out and does it. I am happy to say my criticism of him is no longer valid.

His speed of thought has always been exceptional, now his body is keeping up with him and (barring more knocks) maybe our Messi song won't sound so stupid when it is sung in Brazil.

Now, once JRod reaches that same supreme confidence ability as well..............

Jesus H, we could still get better

That was one of the best performances I have seen from a player from any team. He must be the fittest person in the League. I sit down the corner where all his action took place in the first half and still can't believe he reached the ball for the pen and his trickery to score his goal was sublime. What a player!!

Well I count myself lucky to see the goal today, superb, capped his recent performances, where has the pace come from? Before I've questioned the end product , the boy has grown and the man has now arrived

Not bad for a lad with a medical condition

Well done Ads, best goal since Le Tiss chipped Schmeichel at the Dell

Fair play to those admitting they we're wrong.

But I can't help it is just a case of same old same old.

Some people are so quick to write players off if they aren't standout performers immediately.

I think he was ok, not great not awful up until his injury, and yeah did struggle a bit when he came back.

He's now demonstrating the talent any sensible person knew he had, and as a player that has come through the academy and the entire roller coaster journey of the last few years, it's an absolute joy to behold.

I just can't help feel that those that wrote him off were probably the ones also so quick to write off Morgan, J-Rod etc. granted, maybe I am too patient, the case of Gaston certainly springs to mind. I'm starting to side with those that think he won't make it here. Unlike some I won't take any pleasure, or rejoice in this. I think he is supremely talented, and some club will benefit from him. You roll the dice on these things, sometimes it comes off sometimes it doesn't. I'd like us to persevere, but would be less upset than I would have been previously if he was to move on. I still don't think he has been anywhere near as bad as some like to make out. I know I've said it before, but he contributed a higher number of goals and assists last season (combined) than Puncheon, who seemed to acquire a bizarre status on here (probably coz he ran around a lot, doing that same move, taking too many touches and losing the ball). I'd also still be curious to see him play with Osvaldo.

Lest this be a warning, sometimes, players really do need just a bit of time - and in the case of Lallana, he really had earned that at least.

Its a bit of a generalisation to say that because people were wrong about Adam, they are the same people who write off others. Surely everybody has different opinions about every player, I have certainly never written off MS or JRod as premiership players. If anything i would say the majority of our fan base are too forgiving and too one eyed on the whole. Gaston, Puncheon, Sharpe, Cork, even go back to Benali, seem to achieve reviews that their performances just do not merit. Personally I rate SD and think he does a great job (good goal today) the guy next to me moans like hell about him, its just different opinions. Even top flight managers have different opinions over players, so surely supporters are allowed to disagree on players without being accused of being "same old, same old"

I mean it was a case of the same people that write players off quickly writing off Adam.

I also admitted, and gave an example of how I am probably too patient wow with players.

Didn't read the whole post?

Does this apply to Danny Fox? Just checking.

Think it's simpler than many of you are making out. Adam clearly had the talent, and those 3 seasons in L1 and CCC where he was stand out gave us the expectation he would suddenly perform to the same game changing standards the moment he arrived in the prem. Up against better and more experienced players, he needed time, just like many others to improve, go up a level and progress. Last season he started to show glimpses pre injury, but was never as consistent which is to be expected.

It also helps that under MP, the front 4 don't half move about, and that plays to Adam's advantage + a years top flight experience and he's coming good. For some it's easier so to adjust, for others they never do. Does not make them bad players, but sadly just can't find their game. For Gaston, think his only problem is he is too easily bullied off the ball... Bit of a vicious circle for him really, he needs lots of games to get used to it all, but he won't get them because he is not going to deliver to the level we need and others are... It's a real shame, as Osvaldo made some very astute runs in his 15 minutes, but was not picked out... The sort of runs and passes that Gaston would have seen... If he still had the ball...

anyway back to Adam. Great lad, from a great down to earth family, who have brought him up to a decent grafting young man. Top performance and special goal.
