what a game

absolute dominance in the 1st half. lallana is absolutely brilliant. lambert was good as was morgan

vic's legs went after that mistake.

fair play to hull, looked decent in the 2nd half when they actually put some forwards on

yet again, MP made the right changes at the right time

Lallana MoM by a mile

Brilliant display first half. Credit to Hull in the 2nd but the win was never in doubt.

Big Vic just needs to concentrate on accuracy. He was getting there last couple of games but slipped back today capping it off with that silly bit of over confidence/casualness that lead to their goal.

Great stuff yet again. Thought we might struggle today against a well-drilled side, but our first half performance would have had any opposition rocking. They switched to a flat back four after the break and showed a bit more quality but still only managed a goal thanks to a horrific mistake from Wanyama. Great subs from MP though to put us back in control.

Lallana MOTM for me. Simply unplayable today. If he can do the same again for England next week then he will have booked his ticket to Brazil.

Does anybody else feel this season is like a pair of really expensive shoes which doesn't quite fit?

Oh no, they fit just fine, and everyone else thinks they look really good, but because I'm not used to buying and wearing expensive shoes, it's taking me some time to get used to the fact that I look good! ;)

If we can keep this up for the rest of the season then i will be hugely impressed!! its a shame that should we have any injuries to key players we don't have the right quality of backup, maybe january will sort that but i can't see more money being spent, more likely to swap gaston for a player that suits us better! COYS!!!!

From Michael Cox of Zonal Marking:

Wanyama has been so bad today. We're talking 2/10. His fifth poor pass inside own half, and finally punished. 3-1.

I fully expect there to be a couple fo signings to build on the squad we have. Brilliant game AGAIN. AL MOM for me by a country mile. HAs really stepped up a gear this year.

Yeah kind of, i feel like i only paid £30 at Brantano but when I got home and opened the box it's the finest Italian loafers you ever saw. I'm kind of worried someone is gonna come take them off me.

Agree lallana has the talent but till this season he has been far too lightweight on the ball! MP seems to have installed some strength and determination in him, on his day as proved by today he can be unplayable if your a defender!

He'll need time to be consistent, don't need to be in the SPL. A couple of difficult'ish games a season and the rest are just walkovers where Celtic just need to turn up.

Probably not the best we've played this season as strange as it is to say. Hull certainly improved 2nd half without really threatening though. MP played the subs spot on again. Another fantastic result though, Lallana was phenomenal, hopefully Roy will start him against Chile. Unbelievable how he worked the opportunity for himself

For once it's very unlikely we'll drop places after Sunday's games too.

Great match, one player that I thought was immense, but haven't seen it mentioned was Clyne, I hope Hodgson noticed. Every goal including the penalty was spectacular today. It's a shame JRod couldn't finish with the goal he deserved, but only an idiot could have missed how big a part he played.

Excited to see what happens next week, Arsenal were the team that absolutely humiliated us last season, it'll be interesting to see if we can hold our own against them now, especially if they lose badly tomorrow and we're playing to go top...

He was bad in that he gave the ball away 3 or 4 times and obviously then fecked up for the goal. However he is a beast as we all know and does the breaking up stuff so well (along with Schneiderlin) and if we can eradicate the bad and keep the good we have a superb player. I think we will eradicate the bad because it's just sloppiness, not inability (Fulham match he didn't put a foot (or pass) wrong IIRC so he obviously can do it, just needs to be coached into doing it ALL the time).

Can't really see Spurs and Citeh not winning so that would put us back to 5th.

Wanyama is still young and new to this standard of football. He's been brilliant this season to be fair and will only learn and get better from mistakes like that

I agree. He has been a revelation but he is still young. If he is going to make a mistake then this was a better match to do it in rather than when we are 0-0 against the likes on City or Arsenal.

Shame about the goals conceded though.

Currently on honeymoon in sunny Mexico but still gutted I wasn't at St Mary's instead.

First half was crazy, easily as domininant as we were against Fulham, at least Hull gave it a go 2nd half. Glad Woy was there to watch Lallana today, he really is looking like he's well and truly found his feet in this league. Gutted in the manner at which we conceded again, 2 totally preventable goals in the past 2 games now.

Wow. I was so busy at work telling irritable customers that there's no through Piccadilly Line service from HEathrow that I completely lost track of time. By the time my colleague told me the score, we were already 3-0 up! Wow.

I wish I'd watched it - I'll have to wrestle the Norwich supporting wife for the remote control when Football First comes on. :-)

3rd in the table. Got a nosebleed. I know we may not be there after the weekend, but at least we know Chelsea have fewer points from the same number of games! :smug:

Sadly, after the Chile game, the world will know the name "Adam Lallana".

Gutted to miss the game on telly today. (Bloody Golf Tournament Training blah blah)

When all the powerpoints were over & we could check the score we let out a woo hoo. And the REALLY strange thing? Half the room asked us "Have you won AGAIN? Brilliant/Well Done/Keep it up/You guys are great this year" (And none of them were German Turk's me old mate)

It is really like the expensive shoes analogy, I simply cannot get my head round the fact that everyone now knows about us and knows we are playing good football and FFS DESERVE to be where we are.

Gotta wait for the highlights now but thanks for the GIF OP - wow that was MLTesque but at real pace!

His goal was excellent, but where has Lallana's pace come from?

You're right to ask about the pace. He has never looked very fast in the past and suddenly he looks lightning quick. Hope it's just the double training sessions ;) Seriously though, he's been absolutely superb this year and is getting better by the game.
