Jonnyboy Posted 10 November, 2013 Share Posted 10 November, 2013 No. I'd execute and insurgent who just been trying to kill me and who would do the same to me in a heat beat. I'd lose no sleep over it either. Then you'd be openly breaking the Geneva Convention (as he admitted on the tape) and be banged up. Mind you you'd probably sleep soundly in the nick too. Jonnyboy Posted 10 November, 2013 Share Posted 10 November, 2013 I think Siegfried is referring to you in the last paragraph http://allpoetry.com/poem/8499053-Sassoons-Public-Statement-Of-Defiance-by-Siegfried_Sassoon Everyone knows war is hell and it f*cks you up. No one forces you to sign up. If you can't handle it, quit.

Window Cleaner Posted 11 November, 2013 Share Posted 11 November, 2013 I see the French are starting to revive the "bleuet" (cornflower) again. Bit difficult to get your hands on but very pretty all the same. You can wear it twice a year as well, around Remembrance Day (day off for us) and the 8th of May. The top party members would live in the social houses and run around on a pushbike I assume, we would all take it in turns to live in the stately homes. Steak meals for everyone each night and there would be nobody needed to do the menial jobs, and everyone would be equally paid and there would be no division.Lol Politics of envy have never changed and never will do. Get the revolution and the majority would be no better off, just a cosy life for the agitators and loudmouths who would gain, and they would be the ones dishing out the orders, never really worrying about the ordinary person. We in the main are very fortunate, and yes there is some awful corruption etc going on, but I dont think a change of our society and pecking order would help us at all

Window Cleaner Posted 12 November, 2013 Share Posted 12 November, 2013 Apparently not. Seems we would have to eat cake. Ah the old "qu'ils mangent de la brioche" always attributed to Marie-Antoinette of course. Trouble is when JJ Rousseau wrote that in his "Confessions", attributed to a Great Princess, Mare Antoinette was about 8 years old. Old JJ never names the "Great Princess" of course and as likely as not he simply made it up.
