Chewy Posted 8 November, 2013 Share Posted 8 November, 2013 Guly is a striker that has not scored for 2 years, not played 90 minutes for donkeys and gets the occasional 5 minutes where he does nothing. He costs us £20k a week (fact) and has won more points on his licence than he has for us. Guly has not been employed as a striker in 2 years, and helps the team see out matches in a simple and effective manner when called upon. His aerial presence up front and at the back has been useful at the end of games. I didn't know you were privy to wages but fair enough, you don't get any points for drink driving, and he has helped gain a number of points in league one, the championship and the premier league in his time here. Even if you don't credit him with any impact in the premier league, the league one and championship seasons were still rather important in getting to where we are now. You couldn't be more wrong, as usual, unless your name was Barry Sanchez.
Colinjb Posted 8 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 8 November, 2013 (edited) The BBC is now reporting GDP as out for the rest of the season. What a shame: I was hoping that after helping us to successive promotions he would score a goal in the EPL before returning to finish his career in Brazil and that now looks very unlikely. I hope he recovers fully. Also hope that later in the season we do not miss his contribution too much; with the progress some of the non-first-team academy players are making we look as though we can afford to have GDP not appearing for us again. Good luck to him anyway. Really? Damn. Would have loved to see him score one in the top flight. Seems that Stoke miss may have been his literal parting shot for that ambition! Some great memories with Guly as we rose through the leagues. That third goal at the Ricoh Arena to ensure bragging rights over my neighbours will always be a favourite, screamed myself hoarse in the away end. Edit: Reading the BBC match preview, they say until the end of 2013.... so that is two months. Not the season. There is still time for Guly!
