Expect massive bids

And expect resistance. The higher we go the better the test.

The joy of having a single minded b@stard in charge.... is that he can be a single minded b@stard.

It can be a double edged sword, but thankfully the good is meaningful.

The only way our players leave is if we get a bid the club accepts or an unhappy player tries to force a move. So far we have no unhappy players, and no bids that the club have accepted. I can't see any player becoming unhappy, now that it's been proved they can achieve international status from within this club. Only a lack of a trophy or medal could perhaps in the future make one or two wish for more succesful climes, or a club like Chelsea paying "silly money" for wages that we simply cannot match.

These are positive times to be a Saint for sure.

Dare I say that a league or FA cup win in the short term, would have perhaps helped players want to stick around more in the long term...

Can we all take a step back and listen to ourselves, if the big six put in a large bid we will sell, keep this post as a banker, a large bid and our players will go, not neccessarily because we have to or want to sell them but simply put the players will always see the bigger clubs, trophies and European football as a bigger draw.

Those facts will not change until we do a similar thing to Chelsea and City, that is obviously not going to happen, so enjoy the ride of being the best stepping stone in the land.

I hope I am wrong but simply can not see it, retain this to rub it into my face come February and I shall gladly apologise.

We have used:

Schneiderlin

Wanyama

Lallana

Ward-prowse

Davis

Ramirez

Guly

All more than Cork in midfield this season.

Plus we have Reed, Isgrove and Rowe. I can't see Cork getting much game time even if Schneiderlin is injured.

Think NC's first choice would be to switch Davis or JWP in.

I have only seen Reed in bits of the streaming of Sunderland game but looked like he was doing better than Cork and Davis? Wonder if would he could be decent cover?

If he doesn't get game time during this season it would be fair to let him move on - he has gone from being linked with England call up to just 4 minutes played in premier league.

Was always going to suffer when we signed Wanyama but, like Ramirez, also suffering from good form of Ward-Prowse and Davis.

Do not play in Cork's position, he's our sole cover for DM at the moment and it would be a huge blow if we lost him.

if wanyama or morgan were injured my first choice woukd be to move ward prowse in to the middle. imo that is his natural position and where he will eventually gravitate to as he matures.nhe is so good on the ball, calm and can pick a pass.

If we are talking stupid money then prpbably yes but if the likes of Arsenal bid say £10m for Schneiderlin then they have no chance whatsoever.

Probably because cork can't be happy in his current role.

Depends what kind of person he is. He might see the whole thing as a challenge, to train and work harder, to try and force his way into a very exciting side currently on the up. He might think why leave to go to somewhere where nothing exciting is happening?

Depends what you call a 'large' bid. Easy to seem right in retrospect if you're this vague. The Bale programme last night confirmed that we turned down a bid for him in Lowe and Burley's day from Man United, basically because it wasn't large enough.

If you want to be a prophet ,you'll have to be more specific.

So how large do you think a bid from a top six club would have to be to get us to sell say schneiderlin, or Lallana?

Of course I am right on this its obvious, if Manchester United/Liverpool/Arsenal and Spurs are a stepping stone for Madrid and Barcelona what chance do we have? They have millions more than we do yet we delude ourselves that as we have won a few games we are dining with the bigger boys, lets see if we do that on consistent season by season basis over 5 years and not 10 games into a season.

It is a problem with our rapid development that we are now seen as "big" enough to attract some better names, but I don't think we're really big enough that we can expect players of real quality to want to stay and warm our bench for long periods. Cork is a great player and I find it incredible that we are able to put out a midfield that leaves him as second choice. We will know we are really getting somewhere when we have players of his class as back-up to all positions, but at the moment he doesn't even get a match from any kind of squad rotation and he's really in the prime of his career. He surely won't be satisfied to be out of the team long term, he was mentioned as a possible England call-up last season, so his career's taken a big step through no fault of his own.

It would be a big shame if he felt he had to move on, but I don't see us as big enough to hold onto him as a reserve yet. Hope he stays though, he played every single match the season we came up and was a key player last year. He'd be a regular starter for many other PL teams.

£20 Million for Schneiderlin possibly less, £15 Million possibly for Lallana.

This.

What happens, happens but as long as NC is at the helm you know if players do go, it will be for serious dosh.

Clubs won't have our pants down anymore - we are Southampton, we sell when WE want.

Cork is a great player. Definitely better than Davis and Guly, but in a different position where we're currently very strong. It cant be long until Wanyama gets banned, and very unlikely both Wanyama and Schneiderlin will go the whole season without missing a match here or there with a knock, so I would expect Cork to get a few games yet.

Cant imagine any of the players mentioned would go for less than 10 mil. Got to think Lallana and Shaw will both be worth much more. Shaw's the one I'll be most worried about losing, as I think he's the only one that might want to (if Chelsea came in for example).

I take offence at your avatar. Have the balls to put yourself up for ridicule by using a picture of yourself.

He's kind of scored an own Goal Alps. Pic of you just looks like a normal 50 something bloke enjoying a game - Ok so maybe could do with losing a few pounds but cant we all? ;-)

Nah - Grumpy, emotive, reactionary you may be, but reckoon you'd be alright to share a beer with. The snivelling Hypo, bigotted Dune/Sanchez, not so much...

Echo this. He should take it down. Its a picture of a saints fan at a game. Very odd thing to do imo.

Don't think players like Lallana or Schneiderlin ever leaving us, why would they drop all the way to league1 with us just to leave as soon as a so called "big club" comes calling

Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk

Think you find that Morgan Will ask to leave at the season if je doesn t make the french squad at some point this season.

The minute Morgan goes to some club Like Arsenal, Didier Deschamps Will call him up.

Which i Franky don t understand.

Cortese would never sell for that.

To me at least, Lallana is priceless on current form. Virtually irreplaceable unless we're extremely lucky, and any "known" player that is as good as Lallana at what he does would almost certainly cost more than £15 million.

That's IMO of course, I'm sure Cortese has other ideas.

Don't understand this. If we don't want to sell and it's just because players want to leave us, why would it take a large bid? According to your logic, if we have to sell because a player is forcing our hand, surely a club can offer however much they like? Shaw for £1m anyone?

Buyout clauses, bidding wars, long term contracts etc etc
