bridge too far Posted 7 November, 2013 Posted 7 November, 2013 Series of historical photos that have been 'colorized' (sic) http://imgur.com/a/YiOLx Incredible how up to date they look!
Saint_clark Posted 7 November, 2013 Posted 7 November, 2013 Abes suit being blue has blown my mind a bit! What's the story behind that black woman sat in front of all the whites? And that picture of the monk is terrifying in colour.
buctootim Posted 7 November, 2013 Posted 7 November, 2013 What's the story behind that black woman sat in front of all the whites? I reckon she's asserting her right to sit in a theatre just before or after segregation was ended and is getting mocked and heckled. Colour gives a whole new feeling to the pictures - makes the events and people much closer.
Whitey Grandad Posted 7 November, 2013 Posted 7 November, 2013 Thanks, remarkable photos. When I was young you could buy a box of special watercolours for using on black and white photographs to make them look like coloured ones.
dubai_phil Posted 7 November, 2013 Posted 7 November, 2013 Btf this needs to be a Golden Thread Thanks, these are stunning
Saint in Paradise Posted 7 November, 2013 Posted 7 November, 2013 The very last photo has an interesting history and has a statue in San Diego. There was a segment on "Mysteries at the museum" just last week about it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2276366/Times-Square-kiss-Statue-famous-moment-end-World-War-II-installed-San-Diego.html
swannymere Posted 8 November, 2013 Posted 8 November, 2013 Is Winston from Essex or Liverpool? He looks like he's been tangoed.

tpbury Posted 8 November, 2013 Posted 8 November, 2013 Makes you want to see more, and how come they now which colours to use!
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 8 November, 2013 Posted 8 November, 2013 Awesome, really enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing.
Whitey Grandad Posted 8 November, 2013 Posted 8 November, 2013 Jeeeeezus how old are you? Edit - rhetorical! Everything was black and white before Sergeant Pepper It's amazing what a difference a touch of colour makes.
Special K Posted 8 November, 2013 Posted 8 November, 2013 Really good. Crikey, Liz Taylor was crumpet!
Patrick Bateman Posted 8 November, 2013 Posted 8 November, 2013 Series of historical photos that have been 'colorized' (sic) http://imgur.com/a/YiOLx Incredible how up to date they look! Fantastic, thank you for sharing!! Audrey looks stunning in colour, but the real eye opener for me is the bomb test - seeing how clear the water actually was and how idyllic it was, amazing.
OldNick Posted 8 November, 2013 Posted 8 November, 2013 It's strange how a modern photo looks good in sepia but how the old photos come to life when computer generated with colour. Now that would be a great app to have.
Ohio Saint Posted 8 November, 2013 Posted 8 November, 2013 Thanks, remarkable photos. When I was young you could buy a box of special watercolours for using on black and white photographs to make them look like coloured ones. I remember a colourised photo of me as a baby. They made me look like a baby Coco the clown! It was REALLY bad!!! LOL
Sour Mash Posted 8 November, 2013 Posted 8 November, 2013 Great pics, cheers for the link, love stuff like this.
