cmw Posted 6 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 6 November, 2013 Not entirely sure.. Could well be, however it doesn't look like they've done much to the place inside
Prince Jazzbo Posted 6 November, 2013 Share Posted 6 November, 2013 I heard its been done up using some of the £200k, so that it can be used as a pub for away fans
JackanorySFC Posted 6 November, 2013 Share Posted 6 November, 2013 Jeez, just remembered the topless barmaids they used to have upstairs in there a few years back. Genuinely shuddered at the memory of that, clearly still mentally scarred! Rotten.
Sour Mash Posted 6 November, 2013 Share Posted 6 November, 2013 Good news. Not enough boozers close to the ground.

SuperMikey Posted 6 November, 2013 Share Posted 6 November, 2013 I hope they stay open, I miss the Alfred. Drink in the Kingsland round the corner instead now but it's not a patch on the atmosphere and buzz you used to get in the KA.
sotonjoe Posted 6 November, 2013 Share Posted 6 November, 2013 It was always full of absolute scum on match days.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 7 November, 2013 Share Posted 7 November, 2013 I've spent nearly 35 years visiting boozers and I can honestly say it is in the top 10 of worst dives I've ever been in. The ale is awful and the only reason I was sad it shut was it meant other pubs got busier. For a city the size of Southampton, the prematch choice of boozers is pretty poor. I used to like the red lion, but **** knows what they did to that.

Think problem is the number of what you call "boozers" in the city centre has dropped a lot and basically they do not attract custom other than match days, for some reason
