Serie A to Premiership - success stories?

Another boring thread ruined by the usual trolling. There's a separate thread for Gaston.

There was a time when all the best players in the world played in Italy. Platt, Gazza, Souness, Rush, Ince, Wilkins, Hateley, Brady joined the worlds best in Serie A, where the wages dwarfed those paid in England. The success of the British players was about 50/50.

Saints Web Forum (Gaston fans) definition of troll =

An opinion however valid that differs from their own of Gaston Ramirez.

its that about everything mate. If you've got an opinion different to the vocal majority and you dare to express it, defend it and ask others to defend theirs, you're a troll.

Not by me or anyone near my ST seat or at Stoke on Saturday, I think he's an outstanding talent and hope he plays consistently for us, if not no bother, means the others are doing the business. Offer your opinion by all means, but don't claim to speak for all of us.

Gaston is a talent, no doubt about that. There is however a few things he has to take on board so that he can successfully play in our system. Firstly his natural instinct is to run with ball irrespective of where he is whilst the team ethos when not retaining possession is to move it quickly, so unless he is in the final third running and losing possession is counter productive and exposes us to quick counter attacks. Secondly his pressing is casual and whilst he is able to be physical he isn't as sharp in getting tight. He has to sort the way he plays much as Lallana has done so that he fits the team tactics. If he does he will be a big asset and give us more unpredictability and edge. If he doesn't he won't play a lot and will probably move on. Like Yoshida, missing virtually most of the pre season preparation he is playing catch up, especially as he just isn't getting the game time to fit in.

Agree with this. Lallana should be an example for him to follow.

What we need is another thread about how brilliant we are, that we are invicible and going to finish above Manchester United.

You forgot about how certain players, superfluous to requirements, including Rickie Lambert and Jack Cork can f**k off, because we only need 11 players plus the Clubs (12m + 5m) benchwarmer-cum-reviewer of Airlines that fly to S. America
