dubai_phil Posted 3 November, 2013 Share Posted 3 November, 2013 Fair play to him. He has said he was a Plum. Still do not like him.
lifeintheslowlane Posted 3 November, 2013 Share Posted 3 November, 2013 I think he was caught up in the desire for celebrity...to be a "quotable" personality...hence his ability to rub people up the wrong way. Probably a nice guy underneath the veneer.
Graffito Posted 3 November, 2013 Share Posted 3 November, 2013 As I read it, the article is telling us he got the sack because his chairman didn't have a viable plan.
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 3 November, 2013 Share Posted 3 November, 2013 I recall what great fun we had winding him up with the old 'premier league you're having a laugh' a few years ago, but Ian Holloway was - well back then anyway - a bit of a 'character' as they say. In a ever more professional sport increasing dominated by bland management speak and a fear of saying anything remotely interesting, he at least spoke his mind and wore his heart on his sleeve ... just like on of us in a way. Football could do with more Ian Holloway and Brian Clough types in my view - I doubt we going to get them somehow.

Alain Perrin Posted 3 November, 2013 Share Posted 3 November, 2013 I'm sorry, anyone who comes out with the "revelation" that adding 10-12 players to your squad was disruptive isn't being insightful, they're being moronic for thinking it would work in the first place. Personally I think a maximum of 3 per transfer window is realistic to integrate with preferably no more than one per defense, midfield, attack. Evolution is always successful, revolutions fail more than they succeed.
Jimmy_D Posted 3 November, 2013 Share Posted 3 November, 2013 Fair play to him for coming out with that after the crap we've given him the last few times we've played his teams.

Brian Cough did win the league twice and the European Cup twice, so something of a class above our Olly.
