I have been a big fan of Kieran Trippier at Burnley for a while.... Had him on the last hcdajfu threads

Burnley are flying just now and everyone has now wised up to his takent so we have maybe been too slow on that one.

Fox is ok for 4-5 games a season imho, Yoshi can also play lb

It is Fox this season, and will be Targett next. There is not a chance of us buying someone who is going to block Targett's route.

The Southampton way.

Matt Targett ?.....OK. He hasn't seen first team action yet, but has already been selected (with Calum Chambers).. for the England U19 squad....

No he hasn't probably because he's a scot and I think they go round village greens and sheep farms looking for sturdy lads with a pair of Golas.

Not sure Targett will make the step up TBH from games I have seen him not looked particularly strong.

Against Chelsea he was given a torrid time.

I watched Cresswell for Ipswich the other night looked decent.

You've literally written my exact thoughts. I only wonder if cresswell would want to play understudy to such a young left back of the same nationality.

Can't see Targett making it unless he busts a gut in the next year or so. On the bright side, time on his side and he's in the best place to make that improvement.

How on earth is that allowable then? Youth for one nation and full for another I can understand but surely not 2 nations at the same level.

well it's not uncommon....first comes to mind is Nigel Quashie who played U21 for England but was eventually selected for Scotland at full level, but there have been others I'm sure.

Once a player has been capped at full level, he can't change countries, but until then it's no problem if another country can " claim him" provided he qualifies for them through parental birthright.

Once a player has been capped at full level*, he can't change countries, .

*as far as I knew even that though was subject to a further qualification in that the cap had to be in a competitive match, not a friendly. So Woy picking someone next week v Chile might not tie them to England, whereas a 30 second cameo substitute appearance v Poland last month would.

Note how Wales gave that 16 year old his debut in their last qualifying game, rather than a friendly.
