Goalies scoring against us.

With today's freak opener for Stoke and back in the 60s Peter Shilton getting a similar wind assisted goal (with a bit of good fortune of finding the only hard bit for the ball to bounce off on what was reported to be a quagmire of a pitch).

Is that the only 2 times it has happened against us?

Jesus, been there for the last two occasions when Goalkeepers have scored against us. Crossley in December '06 and now this!

I've had three

Shilton (for Leicester if I remember correctly) v Forsyth at the Dell (kicked out of hand). Think we lost?

Away to Sheff Weds in December 2007(?) Header last minute in a 3-3 draw

Today

We didn't just lose - we got hammered 1-5. I was there as a young boy and persuaded my Dad that we should leave before the end - and we missed Shilton's goal.

That Sheffield Wednesday one was Crossley, last minute equaliser in a 3-3. Was definitely Dec '06.

Odd but good game... with a bizarre sucker punch!

The Shilton one was on a day when I was the wettest I've ever been at a match. No Goretex windproof/waterproof fabrics in those days just the gaberdine school mack and a red and white bobble hat to keep this nine year old dry. Shilts was still only 17 and was already a first team regular with Gordon Banks being sold to Stoke.

Yes I can remember that. It was absolutely pouring with rain along with a strong wind if I remember rightly. The rain was coming down so hard that it was bouncing back up again. I was standing in the Archers Road end and, looking round, I noticed that most people had gone. It was very nearly the end of the game and Peter Shilton took a goal kick (I think). The ball flew up towards the Archers goal, helped by the wind I must say. Campbell Forsyth ran out to get the ball. The ball bounced in front of him and he put his hands in the air to grab it. The ball just flew over his hands and straight into the goal. I'll never forget that day that's for sure.

I remember the Shilton goal, I think it was the only Saints game I ever left before the final whistle. I was stood in the Milton and even my underpants were wet through.

I retreated to the old supporters club for a whisky and was roundly abused by my mates for leaving early.

memorable match for all the wrong reasons.

Yes I was there and boy did it rain! The pitch was a quagmire we never see anything like it these days, sometimes the ball just plopped into mud and stayed there, other times it bounced high, Shilton's kick was from his hands and from the edge of the area and it caught the wind, it was the last of the five. Has anyone seen a Saints goaly score?

I was there and can remember it well just a freak goal that hit about the only dry spot and bounced over Forsyth. Also remember one of their goals barely making across the line because of the water and mud.
