Leicestersaint Posted 1 November, 2013 Share Posted 1 November, 2013 Well done Michael Carberry for scoring 78 in the first innings against Perth. Let's hope he gets a chance in a test Match.
Leicestersaint Posted 5 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 5 November, 2013 I see Shane Warne is talking up Carberry's merits as opened. Let's hope this happens.
dubai_phil Posted 6 November, 2013 Share Posted 6 November, 2013 Well, THAT was a pretty fair statement of intent. England 318-0 at the end of Day 1 against Aussie A. Carberry 153 N.O. Cook 154 N.O.
Hatch Posted 6 November, 2013 Share Posted 6 November, 2013 Well done that man!
Leicestersaint Posted 6 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 6 November, 2013 Fantastic innings by Michael - 153 not out with just one chance offered at 138. His batting average on this tour after two innings is currently 231! Surely he must open now in the test?

His batting average on this tour after two innings is currently 231! Surely he must open now in the test? Considering Bairstow seemed "shaky at #6 in England and apart from 1 knock from Joe Root who looked shaky at #2, it does seem as if Carbs has picked the right moment in his life. Ballance probably needs to score two quickfire Centuries now to keep Root out of the Middle Order http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/index.html He does have a story that's for sure, but personally I'm not so sure I want in the Test Team. It's nerve-racking enough watching our Openers at the Gabba, but to have Carbs as one of them - hide behind the sofa time! But on the other side - what a Fairy tale it could turn out to be - two Southampton based "Journeymen" cracking the pinnacle of their sports at the age of 30+ SRL to Brazil & Carbs vs the Aussies
Leicestersaint Posted 12 November, 2013 Author Share Posted 12 November, 2013 Carberry is in the 12 man squad for the final warm up game in Sydney. Hopefully the rain will stop and he will open the batting.
