Saint_clark Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 Interesting views on the atmosphere, I couldn't hear the Fulham fans once whilst I thought the Chapel end of the stadium was more involved than it had ever been bar semi-final of JPT and the 5 minutes or so we were 2-1 up v Pompey. Even when they do get involved tends to be a lot of clapping without much noise. Not knocking them, it's just how it is, with the atmosphere contained at the Northam half of the stadium. having gone through a lull i think the Northam end atmosphere has been excellent last two games, which is pleasing, especially as one was a sunday lunchtime game v Swansea and other a comfortable win v Fulham, games where the away fans were very quiet. I sit in the Northam, and yeah I couldn't really hear them but the whole end of the stadium seemed to be clapping so just assumed they were chanting as well. Golden Balls Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 I'm in block 41 and only heard them once when they got a corner. Weren't many of them to be fair. Atmosphere in general has been decent last 2 games though.

Ulrich van Gobbel Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 I didn't hear them at all from Block 39 but we were singing for the vast majority of the game.

JRM Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 Another self important SUPER fan.... Well done for being so brilliant... i'm not brilliant , or self important. i've sat all around the ground so have a good understanding of the atmosphere at St Marys, the chapel end is virtually silent for most of the match, that's just how it is. Don't get upset about it,

JRM Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 Back to the original post, that is a decent little video done by a visiting Fulham fan, i wonder how many fans of other clubs who play us make a weekend of it down here. The video didn't show enough inside the ground to get a sense of the atmosphere.

The Cat Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 Nice little video that. I'm in the Family Stand and can confirm the Chapel add little to the atmosphere. Even when they were prompted to "give us a song" by the Northam on Saturday they barely made a noise. Still, at least they are in the stadium rather than sat at home in front of the tv/internet. OLDER BUT WISER Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 I agree its horses for courses as I would not want to sit in the Northam with my grandsons but if its a game like Pompey when we did not take them I would love to be there. CityRanger Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 "The away end is wedged between the two vociferous areas of the Saints support". " Once Southampton took the lead, I was impressed with their persistent singing" I believe that is a nod to us mighty Block 2 ers?! Good little vid, thanks FF. The chapel was more active than it has been in any other game this season, that's all i'm saying.
eharty9 Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 seriously if sat all over the ground, the chapel could be replaced by a mural and no one would notice in terms of atmosphere . So your saying if there was not 1 person sat in the chapel the atmosphere would be the same, and the stadium would be as loud? I don't think so pal

Saint_lambden Posted 30 October, 2013 Share Posted 30 October, 2013 Chapel did join in a bit on Saturday. Granted, it wasn't as loud as the other stands but at least there was a response to 'Chapel give us a song'
