Far too much respect being shown to Stoke on here. They are bottom half fodder and their form is poor. OK, decent performance against a United side we softened up for them, but they will be tired after ET midweek. If we are at it and we hit our straps, we win convincingly. Two, three or four nil.

Agreed mate - Fulham beat them ffs as did Norwich

Stoke have won just once at home since last feb and that was against Crystal Palace!!!!!

Lol another great joke Glasgow. This high praise for Stoke seems very odd, I've hardly even taken notice of them this season. Can remember them beating Palace and West Ham but not a lot else. Didn't they lose at home to Norwich? I think Lambert should start today with Osvaldo on the bench. Davis another good option to close out the game

Thanks mate.

& yes Norwich beat them at Stoke

I will frankly be disappointed if we don't take this chance to send Stoke further towards relegation with a resounding win. We got 3 goals there last season and arguably have an improved attack with a top-form Lallana, so I don't see why we can't do the same again! 3-1 Saints.

Seen a few predictions for an end to our great run today, but to be honest, I thought that for the Fulham game. That was typically the kind of opposition we'd mess up against after a fine run of results, and we stuffed them out of sight.

This Stoke game is one that we'd usually not hope to get anything from, perhaps a draw, which I'd be happy with, but if we show our class I think we can win it, and that will really show how far we've come. I know we won at liverpool but you know, there's always a chance that we could grab a win like that, but Stoke is the kind of side we don't do well against.

Fingers crossed for a win!

We seem to struggle to 'raise' our game against the bottom clubs...... Norwich, WHU, Sunderland this season and similar last season under mopo..... Struggled against sunderland, QPR, wigan, norwich, newcastle ect

This season form has been much better since first few games. Palace and Fulham clear examples

I fully expect Stoke to try and kick lumps out of us in the first 30 mins. Wouldn't be suprised to see Luke or JWP go off injured within the first 20.

I'd be more than happy to come away from that 5h!t hole with as few injuries as possible and a 1-0 win.

COYS

Last year to counter the ruffling up the oppos policy Adkins went with Jos, Jose, Shaw and Maya across the back which tempted Stoke to come down our left as with 3 big players to the right, especially Maya not feeling very generous. Then if you noticed last season Guly when playing with Luke behind him is like a big brother sticking up for his younger sibling.

But then we have big Vic this season, and his Ninja buddy alongside him, I think the mere thought of having to get round a brick outhouse and a combative clinical tackler they will have something else to think about.

I would say we are far to cute to be caught by players trying to kick lumps out of us, but then it is about time the referees gave us some decent protection too, as one thing we don't seem to do readily is collapse like being taken out by a sniper when being tackled, and to be honest it's a sad state that the refs only seem to do something when the "tackled" player hits the deck theatrically. (Sorry still seething from Mariner giving a freekick to Sidwell last week when he was all over Luke then Sidwell left the ground to challenge him and Luke was on his way with Sidwell sat on his backside).

Mark Wright - 'would love it to see them in the top 4"

his heart wants us there. but said that top 7 would be a fantastic achievement.

at what point will the first meltdown post happen today?

Eh? You write that like you haven't been responsible for a good portion of them. Or are you being ironic and it's going over my head?

Quite interesting to look at their forum, I'm surprised they're generally quite sure they'll beat us and most seem to think that man for man their team is better or as good, except for up front.

we could lose to anybody on the day, but I'm surprised our defensive record means so little.

They're clearly retarded. They have a championship squad. Hope we give the hoofers a lesson today. COYS

Looks good to me. No osWALDO? injured? No Guly?

Guly has a knee injury, Osvaldo has a hamstring injury and wasn't to be seen in any of the training videos or photos on Thursday.

Glad to see JWP and JRod retain their places, bench looks good too. I hope we bring Cork on at some stage just to p*ss off the Stoke fans.

Unchanged side then which I think is very good. Ramirez on the bench again, hopefully he gets a chance to play in the second half. No Osvaldo in the squad though, but could still have his injury issue. I'm glad JWP kept his place in the side. been brilliant his season. his dead ball delivery is fantastic.

Guly is injured, Osvaldo ? no idea...even gone maybe. MP said he was better but had to be assessed but he doesn't appear in any of the build up photos or videos.

I rewatched last week's game, and was stunned all over again by Lallana's play. When you think of our pressing game, he is the number 1 instigator. Stole possession more times than I could count. And when he as the ball his swerves, shimmies and flicks are just unbelievable. Last season, the injury to Adam, right before the Sunderland game, led to a spell of disappointing form for us. If he can stay healthy, given how well the rest of the team are playing (as a team!), I think our magic run will only get better. Some day soon, there will be a bucketful of saints goals.

C'mon Saints! I'm really up for this one....

such a change from last season

It's crazy. I start getting excited about Saturday on Wednesday these days! I can't ever remember it being quite like this as a Saints fan.
