Patrick Bateman Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 That was f**king incredible. Couldn't make it down as I was stuck up in London, ironically in a pub full of Fulham fans, celebrated that totally unchallenged. Like their team. I like Jol, but they were awful and that was easily the best Saints performance I've seen, again, incredible.
Toomer Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Fulham fan on call Collymore, Liverpool have got S & S we have got B & B bed & breakfast. Sour Mash Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 I am with Johnny Boy and Alps on this one; if that was the best team performance many of us have seen in 40 plus years in the first half, then one man stood out for a 10 when the rest had 9 which was SRL he was simply awesome. His celebration in front of us on the Northam said it all to me, he loves this club, the fans and he let his performance do the talking to the manager why he cannot be left out for a mercenary who has not proved himself yet. Don't agree with the 'mercenary' tag, but said to all in the pub, would/should Osvaldo start next Saturday? Probably not after that first half performance. Badger Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 The outstanding run continues, long may it be so. After last week, I feared today might be the curse of a fixture we were expected to win, but no. Job done in a canter. The Sky issue overcome as well. Nothing breeds confidence better than a winning run, and we certainly seem to be firing well now, just a shame the score did not reflect our superiority. What has brought it home to me is looking at the table and fixtures today, looking at the likes of Chelsea ,City, Spurs to drop points, for us to stay in the top 4 or 5, rather than the likes of Palace etc to escape the dotted line at the other end of the table. I don't expect us to be top 4or 5 in May, but am happy to enjoy the run.

saint lard Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 We are simply marvellous at the moment. Pochettino deserves all the plaudits,he really has taken us up a level, well done MR Cortese for having the foresight to get him in at exactly the right time. is it wrong to not want to qualify for the Europa League though?........I want us to obviously finish as high as possible, but it's highly unlikely we will qualify for anything more than that competition. actually...hold on what am I saying......it would be great to be in Europe instead of what became a regular relegation dogfight when we were in the top flight. anyway long way to go this season....who knows what wil transpire. doggface Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 1st half I thought we were exceptional. On evidence of osvaldo so far, lambert looks the better player in that position. I agree, but that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Lambert's been our focal point for years and Osvaldo's come in from another country. Luckily we can play the two together and have done in all but one game where they've both been available. The evidence of Osvaldo so far is not evidence worth trusting, and before tonight Lambert wasn't having a great start either. On Clyne: assists? Chances created? He's a great player and defensively rock solid but doesn't offer as much going forward as Johnson, which is why I'd choose the latter for England. Clyne will be there soon though, he's not too far off.
Cascadia Saint Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 That was a joy to watch. Totally outclassed Fulham, who I was honestly embarrassed for throughout the game. You can see the difference that work rate, team spirit, a clear game plan and style of playing - and some technically gifted players gets you. Add to that the fact of how young the team is, and it really is something to be impressed by. It's happening, at least for now. And we will soon be a quarter of the way into the season. saintadjg Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 well the 1st half was probably about as perfect a half of football as you are ever likely to see.2nd half at times looked like a training session .Fulham were made to woeful, they had no answer at all . Hard and unfair to single any one player out for special praise as all played there part. Lallana for most of the game was sublime, seems quicker and stronger than ever,Big Vic was equally impressive in his role opposition players must dread seeing him running at them.Ricky and Jrod were causing problems all game and really defend from the front, Clyne barely left the Fulham final 3rd could easily mistook him for their leftback,on the couple of occasions he was required Boruc was faultless and was basicly playing rush goalie doubling up as sweeper ,JWP dead balls were pinpoint and dangerous,Loveren & Fonte well they're Loveren & Fonte you aint gonna get much of a sniff of goal from these two so you better make it count when you do,Shaw and Spider not their greatest games but still class acts.We have to be one of if not the fittest team in the prem right now. whatever MP is doing to them in training it is definitely working, when you see the pics of them enjoying training that spirit is showing on the pitch. How high can we go?How highs the sky.Injuries and suspensions will probably be the deciding factors in our season, avoid any major injuries and the sky really could be the limit.Enjoy the ride folks and stop *****ing about players
SW11_Saint Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 (edited) Great performance - exhibition stuff at times. All round great performance - Clyne, Morgan, Vic, J-rod, SRL, and Lallana all shone. My only slight niggle is that we didn't put them to the sword and score the 4-5 that our complete dominance warranted. Adkins wanted him to 'earn his place' and put him on the bench every week; Pochettino comes in, gives him a run and he starts performing. These are judgement calls that managers can make better than us but Osvaldo has far too much quality to be left out for any significant stretch after 6 games. It took time for our entire squad to get used to the Premier League - they all talk about it in interviews, 'understanding' the league better after a whole season. Why should this one player be any different? Edited 26 October, 2013 by DuncanRG

RobM Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 It's a great feeling to come home from a game disappointed we didn't score even more goals, from what was a dominant and professional performance. My only criticism is we seem trained to not look for through-balls in the box, preferring sideways movement instead. A few times we broke forward well and had a chance for a ball through Fulhams fairly static back-four, but instead we stopped and went sideways or even backwards. The second half was like a training session at times, Fulham clearly had no answer and no intention of finding one, they knew there was nothing they could do, we were THAT good. Stand out performances for me were Lallana (MOTM), JRod, Clyne and of course Sir.Rickie, although every player deserves an honourable mention. Boruc was an extremely safe pair of hands tonight, nullifying any threat from corners with absolute ease. Shaw looked superb at times, but towards the end almost seemed as if he was carrying a knock and more than once stopped in front of MoPo looking a bit jaded, hands-on-hips. I hope he's OK. captainchris Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 That was top drawer all round. Made a midtable team look like relegation candidates. Demoralized them with the press and but for profligacy it would have been more Boruc 6 not much to do Shaw 7 not his best game but solid enough. Touch a bit off. Fonte 7.5 good defending and positioning Lovren 7.5 tidy as always Clyne 8 always a threat, worked tirelessly creating angles. Wanyama 9 bosses it and retained the ball. Schneiderlin 7.5 tidy enough position. Rodriguez 8 excellent direct running and unlucky finishing wise. Lallana 8.5 great skills and running serious danger all game. Ward-Prowse 8.5 excellent discipline and delivery covered clyne bombing on well. Lambert 8 took goal well looked lively and was involved in most good things. The Cat Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 It's pretty much all been said on this thread already, but that, and particularly the first half, was nigh on perfect. We just have to be the best coached, most disciplined team in the league. One question. Did Sidwell elbow Schneiderlin? Couldn't see from where I was sat.
