Lallana's Left Peg Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Not seen much of the U18's this season, it is effectively a new team full of first year scholars (lots of 16 year olds) so be interesting to see how they go against a Liverpool team that should contain the likes of Harry Wilson (15 year old who made debut for Wales recently) and Jerome Sinclair (who has made his senior Liverpool debut). Saint_clark Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 (edited) Have they got in-game adverts? Edit; nevermind, didn't realise it hadn't kicked off yet. Edited 26 October, 2013 by Saint_clark

Saint_clark Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Looks like we're playing the high pressing game through the youth teams as well, good to see.

Pugwash Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Hmmm - our defenders look somewhat out of their depth.

Saint_clark Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Having said that I think there are a few in the side from the younger age group. The price of giving youth a chance in the first team, it has a knock on effect. 17-18 year olds playing in the under-21s, 15-16 year olds in the under 18s etc. Might not think it makes much of a difference, but just think about how much bigger the kids in year 11 seemed when you were in years 7/8 for example. Deliberate policy by MP though to play kids in older age group, did the same at Espanyol, helps to bring them on more quickly by giving them tougher competition. Does mean we look a bit out of our depth at times, but in the long run it is a good thing. That said, I don't see too many players today who look that much younger or smaller than their Liverpool counterparts. Sad to see how many foreign players Liverpool are playin at u18 level, even though the Hungarian lad had to go off. They are talking about getting another one's international clearance. Think your "game over" remark may be a bit early (after 14 minutes), we seem to have come back into the game since the CB was injured.
Saint_clark Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Awful miss from Gallagher there, should have taken it on further. Never really watched youth football before, you can see the inexperience clear as day with some of the decisions made.

Joe Kirkup Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Really enjoyed that. Liverpool the better side but impressed by our lads' attitude to keep going 'til the end - bit like the first team.

VectisSaint Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Decent second half, game turned in the first half when their CB went off injured. Diabolical defending by both teams for the last 2 goals. Probably fair result, but Doddsy will be disappointed not to have won.
mulletsaint Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 If Leggett doesn't make it at the top level I will be deeply disappointed. Pity he's not a lightning fast winger or striker though.
