Mr X Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Exactly mate. Bunch of cowards on here I'd like to see him play today but don't think its going to happen why suddenly introduce him now? Unless its to say his final goodbye
revolution saint Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 I wouldn't play GR today (well, I wouldn't start him anyway). There are other players who deserve a chance more than he does - JWP being the outstanding candidate and going on form and performances he's more likely to add something to the team. To be honest when it comes to GR it really isn't about lack of workrate that irritates me, good players can get away with that if they produce the goods when they get the ball, it's more that GR doesn't show anywhere near enough creativity or end product - he certainly hasn't done enough to justify changing the team to accommodate him. revolution saint Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 happy to see him moved on if the price is right? Sadly, yes. Like all of us I had high hopes for him and really wanted him to do well for us but for whatever reason it hasn't worked out. Shame for both him and us but if you take away the pricetag and the hype then his performances haven't really been good enough and the harsh reality is that we have players on the fringes that will have more of an impact than he will. In fact when you look at it I'm surprised more people aren't pushing for JWP instead - the lad has delivered and is only getting better. Obviously fits our system better than GR does but that's not his fault. I know I said about ignoring the pricetag (but you can't really) and when it comes down to it I expected GR to have the same impact as Coutinho - clearly that hasn't happened. If we could get somewhere near our money back then from what I've seen taking a gamble on another player to replace him is a better prospect than taking a gamble on GR coming good. All IMO of course. JWP is a fantastic young player but when you talk about what he has delivered, what are you referring to? Gaston scored 5 and created a few others in his only run in the team to date. Just wondering why you think JWP has done more when you have said that you're not talking about work rate?

suewhistle Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 I haven't voted but would hope to see him succeed but am afraid he won't, very much like Revolution Saint. We don't see him in training like MP does every day, so I'll defer to the manager's decision. It'll be a trememdous shame for all concerned if he doesn't get through this, but I certainly haven't written him off yet like some. If he does get on can I just ask that if he takes any free kicks that they get over the first man: that is most frustrating from a player of his quality, and is one area where he could learn from JWP. If that's the case, what end product has JWP shown a side from set pieces?
Mr X Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Jwp's end product is that he keeps possession whereas Gaston more often than not either tries something over ambitious or simply walks straight into the opposition falling over lamely and doesn't chase back hence giving away posession more times then he keeps it

Gaston can score and create, he's shown he can do it when he has a run of games. I think a lot of people have quite short memories.

Saint Charlie Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 In an average game neither JWP or Davis look like scoring. Ramirez does and we sont have many goal scorers.
Ohio Saint Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Glad to see JWP starting. If nothing else, I always get excited when we get a free kick or a corner when he takes it.
DuncanRG Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 Disappointed not to see him getting on today, but if Guly's coming on ahead of him you have to think he's not pulling his weight. A real shame, but considering the success of our selections, tactics and substitutions this season we have to trust Pochettino.
Sheaf Saint Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 I just can't see him getting into our side at the moment. Even with Davis injured today, MP clearly thought Guly was a better option off the bench, and that can't be a good sign. I expect Gaston is pretty frustrated right now but it's down to him to force his way into MP's plans.
alpine_saint Posted 26 October, 2013 Share Posted 26 October, 2013 So, he didnt get on. Maybe "delusion" wasnt so wide-of-the-mark after all. Guly came on in preference for him.

The surprise when you come on to speak your usual bash against our own players but not one comment on the match thread....well that thread is probably too positive for your liking...
