tisspahars Posted 24 October, 2013 Posted 24 October, 2013 Last week MP was very matter of fact that he picks the team depending on performances, training etc......this week we have pictures of Gaston "fully recovered from the illness that kept him out last weekend!" Evens Starts Evens Bench 25/1 Left out in the cold again.
St Chalet Posted 24 October, 2013 Posted 24 October, 2013 Good news for me, time to add a public poll so we can revisit like the Wotton / Schneiderlin debate.
NickG Posted 24 October, 2013 Posted 24 October, 2013 And last week MP said GR would not be included as only returned from Uruguay day before the game as planned. No idea if will be involved but hope so Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk

igsey Posted 24 October, 2013 Posted 24 October, 2013 I do think Fulham are the kind of team he'll perform well against - they give opponents time on the ball and a touch of class undoes their mediocre defense. I'd hope he starts, but I think competition for places it too tight. Stick him in the centre of the front three with Lallana and Rodriguez either side, and Lambert up top, I think he'll do well.
Colinjb Posted 24 October, 2013 Posted 24 October, 2013 I hope he comes good, purely on the basis that it's never good seeing a young man struggle. It would be good to see him make the most of talent too... of course.

SaintBobby Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Didnt see any pics of Osvaldo? Hah Gaston has been doing extra training sessions due to his fitness. I believe he is still very much apart from our plans. Corrected for you :-)
studentsaint Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Davis has a knock but think we will play Lambert and osvaldo rather than Gaston for Davis straight swap.
rooney Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 If Fulham pack their half and Gaston can come on to unlock their defence that is ok with me.
Charlie Wayman Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Nobody else is able to find a way through and stick the ball in the net so why not Ramirez. I mean any forward who isn't scoring goals is worthless so he can replace anybody more or less. lLt's start with Ramirez, Guly and Lee... why not? Can't be any worse than Osvaldo, Rodrigues and Davies?
timayes Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Shaw and Clyne bombing up and down the wings, wth Gaston floating in and around a front three (Oz, Lallz and Lambz). Love it, Its almost a Nichol like 4-2-4. Goals, Goals, Goals!!!!

Barry the Badger Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 The poll results are a pleasant surprise.
SNSUN Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Head says massive disappointment, heart says he'll come good. I really, really want to see him reach his potential with us, but just can't see it. I voted with my head, and I really am surprised to see where the votes are going.
alpine_saint Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 I dont know whether to respect the optimism or deride the delusion..... Personally, I reckon crunch time has arrived. If he doesnt play now and put in some decent performances over the next 3 games, I reckon he's gone. I think the momentum is already towards the exit, and MP is perhaps thinking of giving him enough rope. Its a win-win for MP; if The Gash performs, he perhaps get match-winning contributions. If he doesnt, he gets rid of one of his biggest wage-earners and the chance to replace with his own man.

The9 Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 The poll results are a pleasant surprise. They're a testament to the desperate optimism which underpins most football supporters, tbh.
suewhistle Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 I dont know whether to respect the optimism or deride the delusion..... I don't think many on here ever thought there was any doubt as to which verb you'd choose, nor which emotion.
Barry the Badger Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 They're a testament to the desperate optimism which underpins most football supporters, tbh. I'd much rather that than resigned cynicism.
ottery st mary Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 I am voting Gaston to come good and be the star that he is.
Saint Charlie Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 I reckon he'll start on the bench. Would be hugely suprised if he suddenly started. Unless if without Osvaldo we felt we need some additional creativity.
alpine_saint Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 I don't think many on here ever thought there was any doubt as to which verb you'd choose, nor which emotion. Strange, I dont think I came down either way in that post, you whinging old bag.
Torres Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Strange, I dont think I came down either way in that post, you whinging old bag. Play the post, not the (wo)man, eh?
Charlie Wayman Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 You really are a prat! Very lazy reply. Irony is obviously lost on people like you.
suewhistle Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Strange, I dont think I came down either way in that post, you whinging old bag. Hah! I was talking about your vocabulary. "Deride" - a really unnecessary attitude in terms of a board like this and different opinions therein. Besides, we all know your opinion of the player and your juvenile nickname for him. The whole point is that I don't whinge and your normal criticism of the optimists like me is 'happy-clappy' and other such c**p. I may be older than you but I bet I'm a lot fitter.
JustinR Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 The poll results are a pleasant surprise. The silent majority have spoken

Dig Dig Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Tough pole to answer. If he gets a run of games similar to the one he had last year where he put in some excellent performances, I think he will be a success but I don't know if he will get a run of games like that under MP for whatever reason.

This. Apart from "poll".
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Strange, I dont think I came down either way in that post, you whinging old bag. And you complain about being insulted...ffs ...what a hypocrite...
Leicestersaint Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Bring him on and let's see him do his stuff.
alpine_saint Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 And you complain about being insulted...ffs ...what a hypocrite... I put up with a helluva lot of provocation for the amount I snap back.
Katalinic Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 I put up with a helluva lot of provocation for the amount I snap back. You bring it all upon yourself.
alpine_saint Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 You bring it all upon yourself. If you mean I speak my mind, give my own opinion and allow my emotions to show through at times, you're damn right. Better than being a toe-the-line happy-clappy bellend.
itchen Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 If you mean I speak my mind, give my own opinion and allow my emotions to show through at times, you're damn right. Better than being a toe-the-line happy-clappy bellend. I suppose you speak your mind so often because it doesn't take very long.

Better than being a toe-the-line happy-clappy bellend. You don't tow the line and you ain't happy-clappy, but you're definitely a massive bell end.
suewhistle Posted 25 October, 2013 Posted 25 October, 2013 Better than being a toe-the-line happy-clappy bellend. As I was saying... Thanks Alpine, for giving such an early bit of evidence as to what you think of people with different opinions to yourself. You're never content to disagree... you have to "deride". You're not alone, unfortunately. I have no problems with people with different opinions, but I never disparage people with such opinions, but I do object to the way people express them and denigrate others at the same time. Mind you, you aren't unique * * *** and ******* are incapable of expressing their opinions without a sneer or heavy sarcasm. It really is most juvenile and extremely wearing.
Mr X Posted 26 October, 2013 Posted 26 October, 2013 http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1823199-gaston-ramirez-why-southampton-should-let-the-uruguayan-leave-in-january seems to sum it up really GR doesnt want to be here and MP doesn't see him in his plans at all as it says at the end there is no point having him here let's use the money to bring in a decent all out attacking winger
stu0x Posted 26 October, 2013 Posted 26 October, 2013 Gaston wouldnt be the first player with undoubted talent but whose skills just don't fit the playing style of the premier league. He wouldn't even be the first Uruguayan of recent years. He's clearly not a terrible player, he's just someone whose strengths are minimised and weaknesses are magnified by the system he plays in. It seems pointless to keep him when he so obviously doesn't fit into Poch's system Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
Mr X Posted 26 October, 2013 Posted 26 October, 2013 Firstly I don't think Gaston is a terrible player but I do think he hasn't given his all. Really surprised 70% of people suddenly think he's going to have a huge turnaround in form and even be picked by MP

Just in case

Just in case so they're not being honest just playing safe in case a miraculous turn around does indeed happen?
Glasgow_Saint Posted 26 October, 2013 Posted 26 October, 2013 so they're not being honest just playing safe in case a miraculous turn around does indeed happen? Exactly mate. Bunch of cowards on here
Mr X Posted 26 October, 2013 Posted 26 October, 2013 Exactly mate. Bunch of cowards on here I'd like to see him play today but don't think its going to happen why suddenly introduce him now? Unless its to say his final goodbye
