Pongo Posted 13 August, 2008 Share Posted 13 August, 2008 FWIW I heard that Wilde resigned because there was too much media and fan pressure focusing on the investment issue and that this was putting the whole Board under pressure. He resigned to take the heat off the club and its executives and allow them to get on with the job while he carried on working on the investment issue in the background and out of the spotlight. The statement that he resigned because of a failure to raise finance was only issued to try and reduce fans unrealistic expectations. IMO, it was through Wilde's efforts, that PA was clearly aware that his approach would be welcomed rather than shunned and this is a big factor when looking at a potential acquisition. We now know that PA had contact with the club several months ago, before MW's resignation. IMO it is down to Wilde that we now have this opportunity to stabilise and secure the long term future of the club. If this takeover goes through I think we all owe him bigtime. If that is a genuine question - the Executives have, I believe, in total 50,000 shares owned by David Jones - less than 0.2 of 1% - a negligible figure I think you'll agree. Only LC has a significant shareholding 9.95% of the Club. This is exactly why we need to get the main shareholding groups all represented on the Board. The Board in its present incarnation is more of a hinderance to a takeover IMO rather than of any assistance. Too many monkeys and not enough organ grinders! A situation the Execs have created through their political manoeverings.. It seems to me that Messrs H & D really think they are the masters of PR and spin. Not a day goes by without some new "leak" or statement designed to further their personal agendas. IMO they seem to have grossly overestimated their PR skills and underestimated the intelligence of their customer base. Their agendas are transparent in the extreme and they have lost all credibility as a result. We need an experienced and financially astute CEO who can get a grip on the finances of the Club and a Chairman commited to the success of SFC. One thing is clear we have neither of these at the moment.. Thing is it's all gone dramatically downhill since Wilde left. They're all running around now like headless chickens.. As Brian Bennet said in the Echo today "Right now I would say come back Michael Wilde, as most of us really believed that you would be good for this club" Ever since he resigned the Board have gone downhill, with in-fighting and internal politics, destroying the spirit of our Club. IMO Wilde has been badly let down by all those currently on the Board, most of whom he brought in, both Executives and Non-Executives. I am sure he is looking on in dismay at what is happening - particularly with the Executives seizing control of the PLC Board with a flagrent disregard for his Manifesto. I echo Brian Bennet's sentiment - Wilde was always crucial to the success of our club post-RL and we are now starting to see why. I only hope he steps up to the plate once more and delivers the Club from this ridiculous situation (yet again) as I can't see anyone else out there capable of sorting this out and certainly not anyone on the current Board.. MW has the DB9. Does Micheal Wilde agree with all Saint marcs comments?

sadoldgit Posted 13 August, 2008 Share Posted 13 August, 2008 Times must be hard if Michael Wilde has to appear to do his own PR spin!! (wink wink) But nice to see you here Michael and great that you put Alpine firmly in his place! I must also apologise about being so mean and unsupportive of your takeover stance, but that "Evolution not Revolution" thing did rankle a bit. Anyways, fair play to coming out to play with the riff-raff. SOG

trousers Posted 13 August, 2008 Share Posted 13 August, 2008 Sooo.....just to recap then..... MW was at the game last night. That was the only SFC related reason he was on the mainland yesterday. He was not over here in connection with anything to do with the Fulthorpe consortium. He's burning c.50,000 carbon units a week flying backwards and forwards inbetween Saints games. All conspiracy theorists should be smeared in Yoplait and laid end to end on a model of Skegness pleasure pier constructed entirely from old guitar plectrums Glad we got that sorted then.
