Saint Garrett Posted 22 October, 2013 Posted 22 October, 2013 (edited) We're in a league of our own defensively. (Should get a few chances vs Fulham at the weekend) Attacking could be better though. Info from http://experimental361.com/ Edited 22 October, 2013 by Saint Garrett
Bearsy Posted 22 October, 2013 Posted 22 October, 2013 reads like fulham create the fewest chances, and concede the most roll on saturday innit
stevegrant Posted 22 October, 2013 Posted 22 October, 2013 reads like fulham create the fewest chances, and concede the most Pretty much. I think David Stockdale (now back on the bench after Stekelenburg returned from injury last night) has made the most saves out of any keeper so far this season. On a complete tangent, I was amused to read that Marouane Chamakh has an impressive shots-to-goals conversion rate of 100% in the 8 PL games he's played this season. Unfortunately for him and Palace, he's only taken one shot in that time

mcbendy Posted 22 October, 2013 Posted 22 October, 2013 Scroll down to access the same graphic for the top 5 European Leagues... It is pretty 'striking' (pun intended) how good we are defensively: http://experimental361.com/2013/10/04/an-early-look-at-the-big-five-european-divisions/
Saint Garrett Posted 22 October, 2013 Author Posted 22 October, 2013 We're in pretty good company there!!
VectisSaint Posted 22 October, 2013 Posted 22 October, 2013 Strange that 4 of the teams above us are in the defensive "avoiding the issue" quadrant, while 3 of the same 4 are in the Constant threat attacking quadrant. If we are to get to be Top 4 we need to work to get into those quadrants rather than where we are, at least if you believe the stats. Still, from the attacking viewpoint we would only need to average one more shot per game and one more goal scored per shot and we would move into the best quadrant, so we are not too far off despite the perception that we are not as potent up front as we would like.

If we start putting our defensive unit with some clinical forward play then we would be challenging for the title IMO. Can't see it happening anytime soon though...
