John Boy Saint Posted 21 October, 2013 Share Posted 21 October, 2013 Youngster have no staying power these days, We are going go get cobblers like this if we keep going like we are. We are seen to be punching above our weight so the parasites will do what they can to pull the rug out from under our feet to test our resilience. I was under the impression that after scoring his first goal and dedicating it to the fans for making him so welcome there was no issue.

That sounds likely:) Why is it stupid? It says juventus are trying to set up a loan deal which they may well be trying to do. If the player is serious about leaving and really doesn't feel he will settle to premiership life then maybe we will consider it if we can bring someone of comparable quality in and not lose out financially. Regardless, I fail to see how the article is stupid.

jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 22 October, 2013 Share Posted 22 October, 2013 Osvaldo has stated he is happy, there is nothing from directly which suggests he is unsettled. John Cross writes Osvaldo claims he is unsettled. The only direct quotes from Osvaldo I have seen are from a story posted on skysports website earlier this month where he states he is happy at Southampton. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/8955346/

Cabrone Posted 22 October, 2013 Share Posted 22 October, 2013 Struggling to believe this one, if he's unhappy he isn't showing it on the pitch, esp when we score. The club worked its socks off to get him over the summer and I can see why, he's perfect for us - just needs to bed in. The Don won't let him go without a fight. Juve had their chance over the summer and blew it, the only way he'd be going would be if he declared that he wanted out and even then Juve would have to shell out a fair bit of coin for him. He's too valuable to us.

angelman Posted 22 October, 2013 Share Posted 22 October, 2013 I am sure that Dani is frustrated by the lack of goals, but any striker would with 1 in 7. But frustration doesn't mean malcontent although headline writers like to embellish things like that. The only thing that I can as to why he might want a move is the World Cup. If he isn't scoring, then he might be dropped from the Italian team. Gaston on the other hand, I can imagine being unhappy as he isn't getting any games at all. I am just waiting for Dani to get his scoring boots on, and then I hope there'll be no holding him back.

Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 October, 2013 Share Posted 22 October, 2013 I was talking about those who have written off osvaldo. Nobody has written him off... angelman Posted 22 October, 2013 Share Posted 22 October, 2013 There might well be an over reaction but maybe they are a tad concerned (like me) about where the goals, what few of them there have been this season, are coming from. 2 goals from open play from our 3 main strikers in 8 games isn't great. I still believe Dani will fire them in (hopefully starting with a few vs Fulham), but it's all compounded by the lack of goals from JRod and RL. Mopo/saints are getting alot of praise for the goals against record and everyone seems obssesed with comparing goals against last season (god knows why) No such comparison on goals for though, despite goals scored being down massively and even more alarming is the gap between clear cut chances created + shots on target. This 'new' saints team has alot of qualities, but imagination and threat in the final 3rd is not one of them. Osvaldo has a great scoring record and is scoring for fun for Italy...... Glasgow_Saint Posted 22 October, 2013 Share Posted 22 October, 2013 If Juve want him then he'll go. He'd be nuts to turn down the biggest club in Italy. If there are any truths in this, Osvaldo strikes me as the type that would sulk, moan, strike, or play badly until he gets his own way. His past exploits suggest he's not the most loyal or eager to please his current clubs owners or fans. He may however have met his match in NC, however an unhappy / expensive player is not something we can afford to carry atm, especially with 200k a month Gaston already rotting in the background
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 22 October, 2013 Share Posted 22 October, 2013 Would be an odd one. I thought he was basically waiting for them to make an offer? Kind of suggests it admits they were unable to do what they wanted over the summer. Can't see us letting him go (on loan/permanently) without a heavy premium. Juve are on the up, and making positive strides for sure, but do they really have that sort of financial muscle? Even if he wants to go, the thought of NC just bending over and saying take him cheap doesn't seem mighty likely to me.
the saint in winchester Posted 22 October, 2013 Share Posted 22 October, 2013 The point is that having paid £15M for him, we aren't going to loan him out after 8 games, effectively writing him off until anyone buys him. DO would have to declare himself OUT and we would sell him in January. However, that won't happen. He has said he is happy here and hopefully the goals will come. The off-field issues (ex-wife in Argentina with their son) may bring him to that decision at some point but surely not 3 months into the season.
