Fantastic result, Lallana getting back to his best. Osvaldo looking more of a liability with every game. If it is going to work for him I feel that he needs to have shown a lot more by now. You can understand slow starts and the need for time to gel, but he rarely looks dangerous and seems oblivious of those around him. I worry.

Great team performance and not once did we look out of place competing against them. We justified our league position entirely.

A few players with MotM performances; Lallana, Lovren, Morgan in particular, but my MotM vote goes to Clyne who had a superb game defensively and offensively.

I clearly watch a different Osvaldo to others though, as I thought he did well, looked good and played his part well. He should have done better with his excellent chance on goal, so if that's the base for the criticism I kind of understand, but he's clearly quality so doesn't deserve the comments he gets against him.

Not me mate..he is a good player but lots on here get over reactive about the price tag...

Very very happy with todays game. Felt we deserved more than a point but away at Old Trafford whose going to complain?

I thought Wanyama played fantastic today, aside his passing. Him and Schneiderlin are starting to gel, and kept Fellaini undercontrol. Slightly concerned still by Ossie but Lallana excelled again today. Lovren and Fonte are the best pairing we've had for years.

MoM for me was Schneiderlin although Lallana could well be in with a shout. Bring on Fulham.

How is he clearly quality? He can't hold it up, doesn't link particularly well with midfield, doesn't really appear to get in great goal scoring positions, his movement so far hasn't been great and shoots when better options are available. I'm sure he's a good player because Pochettino rates him but I'd be concerned if MP said he was happy with his contribution in a Saints shirt so far.

Well done the mighty Saints

I needed cheering up and whoever put the picture of the nun on is effing magic, I was having a look at her and within seconds we equalised

I think Ricky has a slight knock , thats why he wasnt used

Today we came of age and showed we are not a pre season flash in the pan

You are most welcome :toppa:

Don't get me wrong I would love to see him do well. I just feel that he waits for things to happen instead of making them happen. He seems very static and when he does get the ball does f'all with it. One point in the first half he had two players to pass to and held on and on only to lose the ball.

For ****s sake. ...here we are off the back of a really, really good performance at Old Trafford, one

in which we could have won the game and we have several on here who just want to slate

Osvaldo with very little grounds to do so...

If you truly think he is poor or a liability as one goon said then you have no clue about the game

So would you say that his hold up play has been good since he joined us?

Would you say his link up play has been good too? Do you feel he drops deep and allows team mates to get past him?

How many times has he really got himself in to clear goalscoring positions? I can remember his West Ham chance. That's about it.

Don't really ever remember his movement causing defenders a great deal of problems. Perhaps his goal against Palace, apart from that?

If you think I'm clueless about him, I'd start questioning your judgement me old mucker.

As I say, I'm not giving up on him but he needs to start showing more to his game.

What has happened to Lallana over the summer? He was a great player, but has become superb and gained some pace.

Great effort by the whole team, everyone played their part, and unbeaten now for how many games?

Judging by the increased amount of ground he is covering this season he's simply fitter. In the past he has done well at the start of the season, picked up an injury and not looked the same upon his return. Be interesting to see how good a season he could have if he could go without an injury.

Bloody BBC bias. Their match report doesn't even begin to do justice to the effort Saints put in today...

Manchester United dropped two points as Southampton scored a late equaliser to claim a dramatic draw at Old Trafford.

The hosts took a first-half lead when Robin van Persie followed up to score after Wayne Rooney's effort had been blocked by goalkeeper Artur Boruc.

United hit the crossbar twice, through a Rooney shot and a van Persie header.

But their failure to kill the game off proved costly when Southampton grabbed a last-minute leveller, Dejan Lovren bundling in James Ward-Prowse's corner.

If the rest of our attacking players could start playing decent balls into the box or hitting quality through balls, then Osvaldo would have got a few more goals so far and we wouldn't even be debating his effectiveness. He's clearly a quality player who has strength as well as ability, and I have no doubt whatsoever that he will start banging them in sooner rather than later.

The gain in pace is more about his sharpness - 'the first yard is in the head' as the saying goes, and his Cruyff turn and run down the line in injury time was the perfect example of this... completely unexpected by the Man Utd defender.

He is simply excellent at present - sharp, lively, quick feet, shooting improved... MOTM for me but arguably one of our players of the season so far.

As for the rest, Schneiderline, Clyne, Shaw all excellent, Ward-Prowse showed his simple but effectively quality when he came on, and of course the all-important set-piece... they are becoming increasingly important for us.

Lovren and Fonte continue to impress, Wanyama did too defensively, but I still have an issue with some of his distribution. It is all well and good saying that what he brings to the team in defensive solidity makes up for his passing, but if he wins possession and then concedes it again needlessly, what have we actually gained? Lets be clear, I like him and I think the net balance is positive with him in the team, but I think it's reasonable to put some friendly pressure on him to improve what is clearly the weakest part of his game, especially as much of Saints' overall game is based on sharp passing and interplay. B- for me, and capable of better... so consider this simple a desire to see us do even better, if things like this can improve.

Osvaldo is obviously dividing some opinion. I can see his ability, and his brain working as he plays... he clearly has something to offer, BUT there is a lack of control and sharpness at times, which does see him waste opportunities as defenders nip in and take it from him. Like Wanyama, I am confident this will improve as he gets used to the league and the speed with which defenders are on his touch.

Neither of these players need final judgements to be passed on them... they need encouragement to continue to improve and contribute... think how good we could be as they improve. We're still improving all the time, far from the finished article, and it is, IMO, a reason to be positive that we're playing so well and getting good results despite everyone not quite playing at their very best.

The future is exceptionally bright. Get behind them all, and we can go far.

An A+ performance in quality, determination and team work. I'd even go as far to say we should have won that. I thought Man Utd were utter trash and we made them look very ordinary a lot of the time. Morgan v Fellani...well....I think Fellani will be wondering if it's worth playing football again after Morgan's masterclass!

A truly great display from back to front. Defensive assured, as per. Lovren is easily one of the best defenders in European football right now. Lyon must be bonkers for letting him go.

The Morgan and Wanyama partnership continues to improve and get better game by game, I thought both of them utterly dominated the old trafford midfield today. There aren't many away midfielders who will go to Old trafford and put in that sort of masterclass.

Lallana, again, unplayable at times. He is having a truly exceptional season right now. Absolute shoe in for the England friendlies next month.

Osvaldo still struggling to get to grips with it all I feel, should have scored for sure, and we were pretty blunt up top for the majority of the game. But overall, this is the best time to be a saints fan that I can remember in recent history. We're not 4th because we've had an easy set of fixtures, we've had to get a result at Anfield and Old Trafford to be there, that tells me that we're not going to be shrugged away too easily.

Great performance all round. Found a live stream for it - Schneiderlin's superb late tackle summed it up for me. Intensity, professionalism, class.

We're looking really good... Defensively we looked a match for 2 great strikers... We bossed the midfield... Our strikers look short of something...osvaldo looks a bit short of the pace/physicality of the EPL.... But obviously a class striker....I'm sure he'll come good and we'll get even better...

He's a quality player but he had a bad game today. He seems to be trying to hard and from all we know about him it's clear that he's a sensitive soul. He just needs time and a bit less expectation and it will come. He oozed quality against Denmark in midweek and his strike rate in Italy was very good. He's not turned into a bad player overnight and i'm sure we'll be raving about a performance of his pretty soon.

Anyway, we just took the **** out of Utd on their own patch and trampled over their midfield. The only disappointing thing about that is their plastic fans are so plastic they probably don't even care. Lallana and Lovren were absolute quality!

No one 'just wants to slate Osvaldo'. Everyone is happy with a great performance and point. Some , including myself, have stated misgivings about Osvaldo's performances which don't look that brilliant so far particularly given how much we have shelled out for him. WTF is wrong with that? We all want him to start doing well and I for one expect he will - but he isn't yet, is he? Anyway, agree we are fourth and well worth it so happy days.

Great result, good all round performance. More shots on & off target 54% possession well deserved point today.

so glad we kept going & got our just deserts. Lallana was fabulous today a real threat all game.

Going to be having a few celebratory drinks tonight & simply enjoy our fabulous start to the season.

Great point especially with the late equaliser. Respect to Dr. Who and LeicesterSaint for calling out the goal when we were frustrated and obviously Bexy for the best use of nun I've seen for ages. Well played!

There is still room for improvement but it is nice to play at OT and not just be lambs to the slaughter. This team - with it's strengths and weaknesses - is the real deal! :)

Sat in the United east stand and some of the bile being spat at Lambert was disgusting. Wanyama was immense, although any pass more than 10yrds seems beyond him. Morgan was superb, Clyne's 'welcome to the game' tackle on the wee Belgian/English/Slovakian boy set the tone. Just like last year we got them scared, as a defensive sub after defensive sub was brought on. The criticism of Osvaldo is justified- he's not up to the speed of the premier league just yet, but at least he's not a prima donna off sulking. Fans were great too- tried to get over with them to celebrate at the end but the stewards were having none of it
