Time for Gaston to get his chance and deliver at united? (injury permitting)

I see this as a game Gaston will want to play in and form aside I think he should be given his chance, for whatever reason he remains unpopular with MP and there is serious doubt around his future at the club.

Do you think he should be given a last chance to show he shouldn't be left out or do you think he's had more than enough chances to start performing?

Seeing as he has only just ambled back from International duty I would doubt that he is near the team sheet this afternoon. But why should MP spin the roulette wheel just to fit in someone in based now on his price tag when the squad is purring along nicely without Gaston.

The candle so many still seem to be holding for Ramirez on here must be nearly out of both wax and wick.

Doubt he will play today, given he wasn't involved last match. Does not seem to fit in with MP's plans at the moment and we have better options with Steven Davis at the moment. Still don't know why people need to be so rude about the bloke though, I'm sure he didn't amble back from international duty, as the OP states, due to time zones he is bound to get back later than players on duty in Europe. He is still one of the very few truly creative players we have but I see him being involved less and less and departing next summer.

A reminder of his ability is his goal in the Olympics at ot.

Starting to look bad but if we could get him firing could be the difference between a European place.

But Lambert can do that, so can J-W-P.

To be honest, in my eyes, Gaston has had numerous chances and we're all still saying ''He could come good'' but let's be honest, he's not going to is he? A really big coup at the time, but for whatever reason he's simply not suited to this team or this league. I think he'll be sporadically used between now and January, but will be sold pretty sharpish once the window opens. We'll make a loss, but should be able to get at least £6m I'd have thought.

Whilst I hope he is on the bench to provide a nice attacking option and some creativity if required, he really does not deserve to be in the team ahead of the 11 names that have done so well recently. Other than Danny Fox dropping out for Luke Shaw I really hope we are unchanged other than Gaston moving onto the bench in place of Guly and Fox dropping out of the squad and off the face of the earth please.

If course SRL and jwp can hit a free kick. Both are good players in their own right but neither have the natural ability of Ramirez IMO.

i would like to see him in the bench, does not deserve a start obviously. Doesn't mean the lad doesn't have fantastic ability.

The thing is, he has come good when he had a decent run in the side under Adkins last season. He hasn't had that run since due to injury, Internationals etc and there is obviously something Pochettino is not happy with as well. Not sure I agree about all these chances he is supposed to have had, this season a few sub cameos and a couple a cup games is all he has had.

Apparently mp clashes big time with ramirez maybe the Uruguay Argentina rivalry? Some are saying he has handed in an official transfer request

Surely that is then racism ?

Unless GR has a crap attitude the only thing I can think is work rate/commitment

Clearly has no future whatsoever at SFC. This weeks press revelations have done him absolutely no favours.

Hope we get most of our money back. Complete waste of effort.

Is this a comment about Ramirez or Puncheon? Just asking as exactly what was being said two years ago.

What a collective bunch of c**ks. More interested in getting one over on message board posters and like playground 8 year olds pretending to know everything, yet in reality nothing... 'Some are saying' lol you could not make it up...yet you do apparently.... Please explain why some are so chuffed to see him struggle? To have another dig at the club? Being 5th must make it hard to criticise I suppose.

Whether he settles and achieves the level we hoped or not, the lack of support, the constant need to ridicule players in an effort to score points against other is pathetic really. Your parents should monitor your internet usage a little more.

Barry Sanchez the all knowing Lord of football was saying this over a year ago, deep reservations about Osvaldo and even Wanyama with his passing, Lovren, Davis, Clyne, have all been very very good signings.

How much did they cost again?

Osvaldo and Wanyama are regular members of a side who a fifth in the league. If they are as sh1te as you bang on about, how do you explain our current situation, given your assertions that 20% of our outfield players suck?

As the saying goes 'the writing is on the wall' for this player is it not?

Not so long ago our record transfer fee, but now reduced to the indignity of playing in the odd cup game and watching the likes of Guly do Prado get on ahead of him. I suspect he'll be desperate to return to Italy and rebuild his career, while the club we be equally keen to reinvest the money elsewhere.

'Never say never' they say, but right now it looks like he'll be gone in the summer - if not before.

once again, we are into the idea of selecting players according to their price tag. If so; names like Lallana, Shaw, Chambers and Ward-Prowse shouldn't even be in the match programme.

..and what about that " oldie " Rickie Lambert ...only cost £1 miilion, and even that was 4 years ago.

Sorry, I'm all for giving new signings a time to play themselves in, and I have defended Ramirez a lot in the past. He has shown signs of being a class player, but still blows hot-and-cold too often and lacks that most important player-quality .....consistancy.

If he's genuinely looking to get himself back into the starting side, he ought to understand what's required of him by now. His selection kept the likes of Steven Davis on the bench far too much last season, and just now .....I'd even choose JWP ahead of him.

The " financial facts " of the investment /salary costs are, of course, a primary consideration for the club's Board....but not for the manager who selects a side based on other factors.

I have deep reservations about Wanyama but he does deserve a chance, if not Cork will be an adequate replacement, Osvaldo has done nothing to merit replacing Lambert, dont you agree?

Lets discuss the table at a later date as you truly dont believe this is going to stick do you?

Can someone explain why he seems to be the only South American player who can't play after flying back? Ever since he's been here and gone away on international duty he's rarely been available for selection.

As an example, Suarez and Cavani both played 90 minutes on Tuesday for Uruguay (Ramirez 43 minutes, not that he was ever in contention for yesterdays game) and both played 90 minutes on Saturday for their clubs.

Sorry but price does matter... If you pay a club record fee for a player, you expect him to be one of the best and go straight into the first team, especially for a club of our stature!!

FACT, he has not lived up to his potential and class which is the reason we paid a record fee in the first place!!

Ridiculous post.

The price of a player in the transfer market is relevant to their ability. Lambert was a gem that we found, Lallana came through the academy, completely different scenarios.

I think people are well within their right to expect a hell of a lot more from a player who is the 3rd most expensive player in our clubs entire history.

It's all relevant though isn't it? 2 years ago, Rory Delap was our record signing so by your definition, had we got someone for £3.9M instead of £12M, we would be justified in expecting more from them than anyone else because they would be our 2nd mosr expensice player in the clubs entire history?

Gaston cost £12m and will earn over £10 million over the 4 year contract. I think its ok to expect him to bust a gut for 90 minutes everyweek

The more you earn the less you do, it's the way of the World.

I am a millionaire and do little to no work, why should Gaston be any different?
