doddisalegend Posted 18 October, 2013 Share Posted 18 October, 2013 Got to love this bit Rickie Lambert provides Pochettino with the luxury of a player capable of merging the role of attacking midfielder and striker into one package. His job as an ‘out-ball’ (as highlighted above) is one typically assigned to a striker, but at the same time, Lambert’s excellent link-up play and good technique show characteristics normally associated with a midfielder (at least in English football). In a way, his job in Pochettino’s set-up at Southampton is similar to the one played by Sergio Garcia at Espanyol, who would often play to the right of Osvaldo, and mixed the characteristics of a centre-forward with the creative play of a winger or midfielder. Ohio Saint Posted 18 October, 2013 Share Posted 18 October, 2013 "One obvious approach to try and stifle them would be to cede them possession, so it will be intriguing to see if opposition managers attempt to do so in the coming weeks" Yes please!!!! Saint-Beer Posted 18 October, 2013 Share Posted 18 October, 2013 I would say we have an excellent playmaker in Morgan. Think they overlooked him greatly. Still, positive article overall.
