Seems that the red tops will now go to town on Hodgson.

 

Basically, at HT at Wembley on Tuesday he gave a speech including an analogy based on a NASA space mission where they sent a man and an ape into space.

 

The story goes that the man was having a fairly low-profile role, and asked what his job actually was.

 

Ground command replied that it was his job purely to feed the monkey.

 

Hodgson's point was that he needed his midfielders and defenders to look to keep feeding the ball to Andros Townsend to complete their mission. He needed people willing to take on the low-profile but essential work, in order to allow Townsend to do his thing and be at his most dangerous.

 

 

Now, I don't think Hodgson is a racist at all. If this is a racist comment, it certainly doesn't appear to have been the purpose.

 

All I can feel from this is that Hodgson is becoming a victim of red-top character assassination for what can be described as, at worst, a poorly judged analogy.

A nursery I know got reported to ofsted by a parent because they heard a practitioner calling a black child a cheeky monkey. This is as ridiculous.

TBH, I'm not surprised, my better half has many years experience in childcare and we have had many conversations on this subject. In her crèche 'cheeky little monkey' is a banned term because it may be deemed racist to some. They do have to be very careful as something that was deemed acceptable when we were kids might not be acceptable in today's multicultural Ireland.

 

I agree, I think it's ridiculous. If Hodgson stopped himself and thought "oh that might be racist, I'll use a different analogy, what's an analogy?" - Is that racist?

Why should they be shut down? They have to pander to their customers, as most businesses do & parents are the hardest part of her job. Lets take a small creche of 30 kids - that's probably about 15-20 family's of differing beliefs,race and religion - all children are equal - what should they do? I'm not trying to start a childcare debate as it is wildly OT, but I am interested in opinions. FWIW you will struggle to find Ba Ba Black Sheep on any modern nursery rhyme cd's as that is also racist (I don't know why).

I speak from experience when I say that nurseries and child care facilities do not have to pander to their customers. We have cultural sensitivity, but with something like this we say this is how we operate and if someone does not like it we suggest they take their business elsewhere. Oh and baa baa black sheep is routinely sung!

The ONLY people in that Dressing Room would have been the players & officials.

That means someone in the heart of the England Team leaked this to the Press.

 

So someone in the heart of the team thinks this is more important to be in the papers than to be dealt with internally. That kind of activity REALLY does not bode well for the harmony & team spirit heading up to a month away together in the US & Brazil next summer.

 

(Hopefully it was Danny Wellbeck who did it and so he can be dropped asa farking p and replaced by a footballer)
