Stephens & Turnbull

Just wondered how these guys are perceived as having developed. Stephens had played some first team football for Plymouth before joining us, whilst both he and Turnbull played for England U19s last year and no longer feature.

Just wondering if anyone has watched them a lot and what the chances are of either making the step up to first team football?

Stephens has been shunted around from intially being a RB, then to CB, then to holding midfield and then back to centre back again.

It seems both are highly rated and were on the pre season tour, yet nearly all the U21 games highlights show poor goals being given away, often with individual errors.

Would either or both be better served with a loan spell in L2 than playing in the docile U21s league?

Do you think Jack or Jordan will make the grade?

Sorry Charlie, just distracted by the former midfielder.

I think they should be showing more around the first team if there are to make the grade. They have looked unconvincing and not especially confident in the u21 games i've seen.

Worth giving time but I would expect them to be playing professionally at League 1/2 level in the future. I did believe that Jack Saville was a better prospect though and he's now ended up at Ebbsfleet on loan from Barnett. They can't all be a Shaw or Chambers.

This is Dale Stephens:

He was a tidy enough midfield player, but hasn't done much at Charlton.

Anyway, back to the point....thoughts on Turnbull and Stephens?

Sorry, you are wrong mate. This is Dale Stephens (Pictured as an Oldham player prior to joining us)

This is Jack (during one of his appearances for Plymouth as a raw 16 year old):

Jordan seems a little bit of a knob on twitter. You can put the eyebrows down to age (bear has a similar set) but...

Also puts that he is an England international in his profile. MLG may come up with some technicalities about youth caps or something but it is a bit of an exaggerations. I guess If I was a footballers and tweeting birds, I'd probably tell them I was an England international as well. Yeah he is ok apart from the eyebrows.

The names on yours are the wrong way round. Jack is the one with the slightly fatter Lee Trundle-esque face and Dale Stephens is the bottom of the two, although didn't realise he was at Plymouth at any point (must have been on loan). Hopefully for their sake not at the same time Jack was there, would have confused everyone.

No, they are really not! Dale played for Oldham (with the fatter face), Jack played for Plymouth (thinner face.) Dale has never played for Plymouth and Jack has never played for Oldham.

And here is an article in the echo specifically referencing the photo you linked as Dale.

I had to research this delicately when we signed him to make sure I didn't get the news article for this website wrong, knowing we had just signed Jack, another Stephens, from Plymouth.

Charlie, mate. You have it the wrong way round. Not me.

I don't know who Jack or Dale is?

When did they play for us? Will they be in Duncans book?

Dale Stephens is right back currently playing CF for youth team, Jack Stephens is former player with fat/thin/turnbull face, Cat Stevens changed his name to Yusuf Islam

Now you are quoting the Soton Echo as a source to show you are right?

F*ck me Charlie, are you on a wind up!? Is this one of those Star Trek TNG 'Four Lights' scenarios!?

Anyway, Stephens seems to have been harmed by being so versatile yet Chambers has benefitted from it.

Turnbull's position is clear, but he lacks pace and composure on the ball for me.

Neither will be PL players IMO, but both should have a future in the game.

Jack Stephens is this guy:

1655841.jpg?type=articlePortrait

Jack joined Saints in April 2011. He did not play for the first team that season or have a squad number. He did not play at St Mary's in the 2010/11 season.

The player in that photo is wearing the 2010/11 kit on the St Mary's pitch and is wearing number 33 which was Dale Stephens number in the 2010/11 season.

Are you being serious or doing this for ****s and giggles?

Both of them come across as right nobs on twitter, I deleted them (sure they are devastated)

I remember they were giving bale both barrels mid season last year saying he was nothing special and loving himself. I pointed out that he is a great example to all academy players. Funnily enough they stfu by the end of the season.

Perhaps they are the big time Charlie's. I know one thing, they need to knuckle down and graft if they want to get in our 1st team. IMO will become lower league no marks in time.

His brother Terry was a better singer though although he did have his seasons in the sun...

Don't try and work it out if you're under forty

Did you know that Seasons in the Sun is an anglicised version of The Moribond by Jacques Brel ? Just as My Way is merely an english adaptation of Comme D'Habitude" by Claude François.
