Hedgehog Posted 10 October, 2013 Share Posted 10 October, 2013 I keep seeing in the press or hearing on the radio that we should forget about winning the next world cup, and yes at the moment we haven't even qualified. But what will change in the future, how will future England squads develop? I keep seeing comments that we can't match the skill of other teams, yet when we had the skillful players the likes of Le Tiss they were largely neglected for 'workhorse' players. Over the last few years succesive England managers have stuck with the likes of the Gerrards, Lampards etc. Some quite long in the tooth. How will England progress in the future, no doubt we will soon have the next batch of the 'Old Guard' who will be picked religously ahead of others of the then current in form players. Getting the likes of Hoddle involved, as of now, how will this work? I know I am asking a lot of questions, but I have no answer, and as it seems to me no one does, they just seem to say don't expect to succeed now, but hopefully something will change in the future that will make us winners. But what will change??
Weston Super Saint Posted 11 October, 2013 Share Posted 11 October, 2013 We will only start to do better when we choose an England manager with a pair of ****** that will choose his / her own team. Until then the Red Tops will continue to pick the team and we will continue to be turd.
Huffton Posted 11 October, 2013 Share Posted 11 October, 2013 Until the English attitude to the game changes we will win nothing. English physical style game cannot cope with the continental type of pass, build and move game. The FA have finally realised this and are now coaching youngsters with a more continental approach, however I am talking about the little ones, 10 and under. Its going to take years until we can properly compete again.
Sour Mash Posted 11 October, 2013 Share Posted 11 October, 2013 A bit of luck on something like a penalty shoot out.
rooney Posted 11 October, 2013 Share Posted 11 October, 2013 I remember when Hoddle came to us, we were terrible but he got us playing so that we looked like winning with the same team. He must have something worth passing on to Greg Dyke's committee.
aintforever Posted 11 October, 2013 Share Posted 11 October, 2013 We blame the media, the coaches, the manager, the demands of the Premier League etc, but are just not very good at football. The problem is some people just can't accept that fact.
Whitey Grandad Posted 11 October, 2013 Share Posted 11 October, 2013 A bit of luck on something like a penalty shoot out. I think we lose those because of poor technique and skills, so perhaps learning how to take penalties should be high on the list?
