Saints playing for England (and other internationals)

Good chance for him to get a goal or two.

He's playing quite far back at the moment, just sitting in front of the back four and keeping play going. Given the opposition the team is not playing well, front three in particular. Ince and Sterling want to do it all themselves and Harry Kane can't stay onside.

1-0 up ATM after a messy goal from a corner.

Osvaldo scores for italy

Sounds like a decent goal too:

29 min: A classic Italian counter attack has just broken the deadlock, with the Azzurri ahead through Osvaldo. The Southampton striker did brilliantly to control a lofted through ball over the top. His first touch and shift left Agger trailing, with a measured finish finding the far corner from a tight angle. What a moment for Osvaldo, his fourth international goal!

Rooney's ship has seriously sailed. Has looked nothing more than a lower end PL player for the last 4 years. Previous gets him the guaranteed spot and creates the expectation. Fact is that he peaked very early, and will never get back to that level again.

Sorry, but England are playing well - high pressure when we lose the ball and starting to find room as the Montenegro side tire. Rooney should have done better, but feel that we will come good in the 2nd half

Don't quite agree. Pressing well and there have been a couple of decent moments but some of the passing has been shocking. Think this could be a good game for Lambert. Would link up play well and give us a target in the box. Would also give us the option of hitting those diagonals to the back post for knock downs.

How many times have we seen teams 'park the bus', I agree that we could do with a little bit of invention - the biggest problems for me is Gerrard, who slows everything down...also think we could do with switching Townsend to the left, and maybe bringing on Lambert instead of Welbeck would be a good move if we are still 0-0 in the last 20. Overall though England aren't a bad side, we just aren't a great one.

Last post....

Interesting all the stuff people are saying about Rooney. I agree that he hasn't hit the heights that were expected of him, but he has now scored 6 goals in last 5 games for England, most competitive goals for an England player and only Lineker scored more World Cup goals....not bad for a player who peaked at 16! Saying that I would love to see SRL to get on and grab a goal...

Kyle Walker is a kn*b, stupid yellow
