Balotelli has got an injury and Rossi probably wont be risked. They talking about a 4-3-2-1 formation with Osvaldo as the most likely lead striker. If SRL does not start I will be watching the Italia game live away to Denmark and keeping only a a secondary eye on England...

PS if Lloyd Isgrove gets picked to start for Wales I'm watching that too..

I thought Prandelli had a strict policy of not picking players for the international team who were suspended for their clubs?

One rule for Balotelli and one for everyone else, it seems...

On the subject of Saints players, can't see either Lambert or Isgrove starting. Front 3 for England will be Welbeck, Rooney and Sturridge. Isgrove only got called up as a late replacement for a load of injured players so he'll be on the bench at best. Friday's a massive game for them if they want to avoid finishing bottom of the group and potentially getting dragged down into a lower seeding pot for the Euro 2014 qualifiers.

I'd be very surprised if Lambert starts. Sturridge and Rooney have been pretty impressive so far this season, whilst Lambert hasn't be as. Would be good for him to get on for a bit though

I imagine he will get game time as he is able to change the tactics, the line up will likely be Welbeck, Rooney and Sturridge which in reality is pretty good TBH

Seems to credit us with a few different good things.

Importantly, it appears a healthy appetite for success means there's lots more to come.

The credit he gives Southampton rather p*sses on that idiot journo who maintains that he already wanted out of here to play in Argentina. He sounds very content with life here and his comments that he was also becoming much fitter are probably down to the coaching regime here too.

Which article was this then?

Which article was this then?

Don't worry about it...it was an article in which Dani mentioned at the end of the interview he'd like to end his career playing for Boca Juniors (the team he supported as a kid) only to find another lazy journalist thought he could rearrange the facts to read, "Osvaldo Already Plotting Saints Exit."

:hunt: Burn The Witch!

But a valid point

Morgan says quite clearly in his interview published yesterday that Pochettino wants to play with a 10 but for the time being he's had to adjust to accomodating both Lambert and Osvaldo. Obviously it's good for the club to have at least one England international in the side so the necessary adjustment is valid to maintain that. However as Lambert isn't going to get a look in in terms of actual playing time whilst all the others are fit the situation may not perdure for overlong. When Walcott is fit I doubt that SRL will make the 23.

The way Roy talks about players returning from injury, its as if he wants to sweep the whole Lambert experiment under the carpet like it never happened, like some embarrassing, messy one-nighter.

Which should never be swept entirely under the carpet either, you never know when you might be hard up again.

I'm not exactly one for the usual 'anti-Saints' agenda stuff, but don't think Lambert has been shown the respect he deserved by Hodgson etc.

I was not that impressed with sturridge last night and surprised he stayed on as long as he did

it is clear that roy will see rooney and sturridge as his first choice

sturridge did not look like scoring until rooney let him have a penalty in injury time.

will be interesting to see when carroll is fit, if he just gets straight back into the squad.

was funny, to see milner get his compulsory run out.

I suspect we may never see Rickie on the field in an England shirt again. Attitude towards him has been really patronising. Really hope I'm wrong - but if I'm right huge respect to the man for showing them that he could cut it (even if they were only waiting for the Big Club players to come back).

Agreed, when he scored on his debut it was all "it's great for him, blah blah blah".

Townsend scores last night and everyone says it shows he can be useful for England.

but Lambert scored against Scotland and Moldavia, Monternegro is supposed to be a half decent side. Anyway honour has been satisfied, Lambert has had his run out in an England shirt, the Roy of the Rovers story is complete so watch the next issue for some serious progress towards becoming a decent side again. It was obvious that it was temporary and the noises that Wilshire and his ilk were making after the last game about usual strikers being back in business soon should have left no illusion about the longevity of the experiment..

Yes but Townend is for the future, Lambert is not. He has down brilliant to work his way up through the ranks and get to pull on an England shirt, but he is not the future. Nor is Rooney come to that!

I do not think he will even go to the World Cup, as some other youngsters at Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal or Liverpool (even Man U) will come along and take his place. 10 or even 5 years younger he would be in the team, but not at saints!

We have an Italian striker though. :)
