Gemmel Posted 10 October, 2013 Share Posted 10 October, 2013 (edited) Steven Howard; We have all done our best to dislike Southampton Chairman Nicola Cortese. At times we have been almost drowned in indignation. First when he sacked Alan Pardew. Even more so when he axed Nigel Adkins. How we then scoffed when he appointed a manager we had nver heard of and whose name we couldnt pronounce. And now Southampton stand fourth in the Premier League, reviving the good old days of Lawrie McMenemy. If Saints and Cortese go on like this, someone might have to say something nice about him. Everybody had heard of Pochettino anyway, if only for bringing down Michael Owen. Incidently one of only 3 PL managers to have appeared at WC final tournaments. Wes Tender Posted 10 October, 2013 Share Posted 10 October, 2013 First when he sacked Alan Pardew. Even more so when he axed Nigel Adkins. How we then scoffed when he appointed a manager we had never heard of and whose name we couldnt pronounce. And now Southampton stand fourth in the Premier League, reviving the good old days of Lawrie McMenemy. Misguided Missile won't have that said about Pochettino ...what you are suggesting is that you were right about your managerial hero Adkins (ex-goalkeeper forTranmere Rovers,Wigan Athletic and Bangor City) being sacked and being replaced by a "relative nobody" Mauricio Pochettino (ex-Espanyol, Paris Saint-Germain and Bordeaux player, who represented Argentina for four years playing in the 1999 Copa Américaand the 2002 World Cup) How were we expected to know about him when he arrived here, if a Sports Journalist from a major Red Top newspaper had never heard of him? Dig Dig Posted 10 October, 2013 Share Posted 10 October, 2013 As NC has known all along, if you keep being successful, the detestors will soon start to dissapear. This has happened in the media and within the fan base in general. We don't really hear much of the nasty nick stories anymore which were a fairly constant on here not too long ago. There are still one or two hanging on by their fingernails...far more subtle these days, but they still get their digs in when they think they see an opportunity.....I suspect it won’t be long before the heel of Nasty Nicks boot finishes them off for good though. Charlie Wayman Posted 10 October, 2013 Share Posted 10 October, 2013 Like Martin Effing Keown who said yesterday "Lambert's OK but he won't start as England need front men who (no disrespocet) have a bit more quality and bring more more to attacks". Nasty Bastard!

Nasty Bastard!it's fairly obvious that RL won't start as Hodgson has been saying that he has now a decent set of forwards to choose from. He never has talked up RL ,and only used him in desperation. It will interesting to see if the team spirit is still as good with the old guard back

If I was in his shoes, I would go for a front line of Rickie up top with Sturridge and Rooney playing off of him. Not going to happen though, woy is too set in his ways to be that adventurous. I'm sorry but hat comment is so biased. Lambert deserves a place in the squad but he will be on the bench and right to so.
rooney Posted 11 October, 2013 Share Posted 11 October, 2013 Let us hope that England struggle to score, Lampard is taken off and Rickie comes on to score the winner with one of his super free kicks. What will the "experts" say then I wonder?

OldNick Posted 11 October, 2013 Share Posted 11 October, 2013 I'm sorry but hat comment is so biased. Lambert deserves a place in the squad but he will be on the bench and right to so. it is not being biased but perhaps being able to see the subtle qualities that RL adds to the team that some are blind to. If Wellbeck had been playing for Saints he would not be a first choice. His all round game is poor and his greediness is harmful to the team.He constantly gets caught ion possession. RL thinks of the team first before personal glory, sadly a lot of the others dont
