edprice1984 Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24454963 This is the equivalent of letting one of those Football Manager geeks loose with our Scouting and recruitment...reckon McKay will be next and they will be relegated
swannymere Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 They are screwed, imagine waiting all those years to get in the top flights, all those nearly moments and then they finally get there and the owners ego starts going into overdrive. I'd imagine MM will walk, and some nobody will take over. Poor ****ers.
melmacian_saint Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 They had it coming for becoming increasingly obsessed with the dream of the PL. It was what brought that nutcase of an owner to the club, effectively changing their identity in order to attract to people who honestly don't care about PL ne'er do wells. Mind you he does sound as pragmatic as you'd expect a successful businessman to be, so as soon as he checks the next annual report he'll pull the plug. Swansea are the real deal in Wales. Cardiff had their shot but I fear they let it become more important than the club itself. Does it even feel that special for them?
Window Cleaner Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 They've spent 33 million on top of whatever it cost them to exit the NPC and have got 8 points to show for it. I can understand the head of recruitment getting sacked.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 Star signing Cornelius hasn't even started a game yet. You have to wonder why, and what the thinking was when they spent so much on him.

I can understand the head of recruitment getting sacked. Of course, we sacked our head of recruitment a year ago when we, as a newly-promoted team, spent around the same amount and had half the points to show for it...
buctootim Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 Star signing Cornelius hasn't even started a game yet. You have to wonder why, and what the thinking was when they spent so much on him. He injured his ankle in pre-season and again in a cup game. no mystery.
Window Cleaner Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 Of course, we sacked our head of recruitment a year ago when we, as a newly-promoted team, spent around the same amount and had half the points to show for it... But our problem was more specific, we didn't acquire a PL level keeper until it was far too late, that problem was eventually corrected and the perpetrator of the anomaly was eventually sacked anyway.
jjsaint Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 Their January transfer window will be pure comedy. Can't wait.
swannymere Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 Of course, we sacked our head of recruitment a year ago when we, as a newly-promoted team, spent around the same amount and had half the points to show for it... But we didn't force him out on gardening leave and put a completely inexperienced 23 year old in his place because we're mates with his dad.
Window Cleaner Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 But we didn't force him out on gardening leave and put a completely inexperienced 23 year old in his place because we're mates with his dad. Commonly known as nepotism
swannymere Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 Commonly known as nepotism Cheers, everyday's a school day:rolleyes:
Verbal Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 Commonly known as nepotism Far be it from me to appear pedantic, but it's more like cronyism. Nepotism benefits family members.
Window Cleaner Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 Far be it from me to appear pedantic, but it's more like cronyism. Nepotism benefits family members. Usually extended to immediate entourage though and this bloke is a big mate of his son's. So nepotism is quite apt I think.
suewhistle Posted 11 October, 2013 Posted 11 October, 2013 Cheers, everyday's a school day:rolleyes: From the Italian word 'nipote': nephew or grandson... :-)
The9 Posted 11 October, 2013 Posted 11 October, 2013 Usually extended to immediate entourage though and this bloke is a big mate of his son's. So nepotism is quite apt I think. When incorrectly used. Back to the point though, Hahahahahahahahahahahaha Cardiff City. I've been waiting for this since Tan took over, they are the prostitutes of senior football, will do anything for the money. As a Newportonian, not much gives me greater pleasure than watching them fail.
Tokyo-Saint Posted 11 October, 2013 Posted 11 October, 2013 When MLG takes over from Les Reed it will be a shock to us all but we will just have to get used to it as it as NC always does what's best for the club.
Turkish Posted 11 October, 2013 Posted 11 October, 2013 But our problem was more specific, we didn't acquire a PL level keeper until it was far too late, that problem was eventually corrected and the perpetrator of the anomaly was eventually sacked anyway. Ramirez, Yoshida, Mayuka, Forren. £20m worth of players spent in the last 3 windows who can't get at the moment or never got a sniff of first team football. We've badly covered ourselves in glory in the transfer market.
melmacian_saint Posted 11 October, 2013 Posted 11 October, 2013 Ramirez, Yoshida, Mayuka, Forren. £20m worth of players spent in the last 3 windows who can't get at the moment or never got a sniff of first team football. We've badly covered ourselves in glory in the transfer market. Yoshida is a rightful member of the first team and Mayuka is getting there I think. Agree on the other 2.
whelk Posted 12 October, 2013 Posted 12 October, 2013 Agree on the other 2. I'm sure not even those that like to be contrary for the sake of it would dispute Forren was not a good buy Ramirez still wasn't a bad purchase - probably won't get back what we paid but close and it pleased fans, statement if intent etc and I still rate him though we overpaid.
whelk Posted 12 October, 2013 Posted 12 October, 2013 And always hated Cardiff. Think it stems from their hoolies having no style or dress sense. Tan sounds like he might be as mad as the Hearts bloke
Turkish Posted 12 October, 2013 Posted 12 October, 2013 Yoshida is a rightful member of the first team and Mayuka is getting there I think. Agree on the other 2. Mayuka getting there? Based on what? I'll give you Yoshida, to be fair he was actually a decent signing for the fee so not really sure why I put him in!!

Window Cleaner Posted 31 October, 2013 Posted 31 October, 2013 Their January transfer window will be pure comedy. Can't wait. apparently their new head of recruitment has resigned. Obviously the job wasn't big enough for him. Ah no, turns out he might not have a work visa.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 October, 2013 Posted 31 October, 2013 apparently their new head of recruitment has resigned. Obviously the job wasn't big enough for him. Visa problems......
Saint in Paradise Posted 31 October, 2013 Posted 31 October, 2013 Visa problems...... Well he should have used Mastercard or even American Express then when his Visa card was refused.
100% Saint Posted 31 October, 2013 Posted 31 October, 2013 I can just imagine him on Fifa or FM using the career mode scouts to find new players!
whelk Posted 19 December, 2013 Posted 19 December, 2013 Latest news might make the boxing day trip easier http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25457024
Sheaf Saint Posted 30 December, 2013 Posted 30 December, 2013 http://metro.co.uk/2013/12/29/vincent-tan-tells-cardiff-city-to-sign-players-with-number-eight-in-their-birth-date-4244721/ Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan has already established himself as one of the more colourful foreign owners in English football. But Tan’s strange habits go a lot further than changing the club’s colours and then deciding to hate the manager – after his bizarre transfer plans were revealed. According to reports, Tan has informed Cardiff’s board that he prefers them to buy players with the number eight in their birth date. So for example, any player born on January 8th 1988 would be right in there with Tan, who is planning on splashing the cash on new signings in the new year. Eight is a respected number in Malaysia, and Tan in particular has a keen likening to it, with the news coming as no surprise to those who know the Cardiff supremo closely. Madness.
Sheaf Saint Posted 30 December, 2013 Posted 30 December, 2013 Best of luck to whoever takes that manager's job.
OldNick Posted 30 December, 2013 Posted 30 December, 2013 http://metro.co.uk/2013/12/29/vincent-tan-tells-cardiff-city-to-sign-players-with-number-eight-in-their-birth-date-4244721/ Danny Fox was born in 1988, not sure if that counts.
70's Mike Posted 30 December, 2013 Posted 30 December, 2013 Danny Fox was born in 1988, not sure if that counts. quick e-mail Tan and tell him he is worth £8m
Weston Super Saint Posted 30 December, 2013 Posted 30 December, 2013 Anyone born on 8th August 1988 will walk in to the team - whether they can kick a ball or not
Window Cleaner Posted 30 December, 2013 Posted 30 December, 2013 Danny Fox was born in 1988, not sure if that counts. close 1986, still an 8 there though right.
shurlock Posted 30 December, 2013 Posted 30 December, 2013 Unfortunately Jos has a 4 in his birthdate - that practically makes him the angel of death.
OldNick Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 :)Iclose 1986, still an 8 there though right. I just thought I would embellish his CV it's the done thing

Mattio Posted 31 December, 2013 Posted 31 December, 2013 Anyone born on 8th August 1988 will walk in to the team - whether they can kick a ball or not I was! I'm on the phone to Tan now negotiating my £88,888 a week contract Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515m using Tapatalk 2
