stevegrant Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Still including the "loyalty points" paragraph
Saint_clark Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 When you ring the ticket office and get recorded info on away games, they tell you how many loyalty points you're given as well. Just give it up ffs.
Dan Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Trains from Sheffield, Hotel and ticket for under £60. Not bad at all.
Sour Mash Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Anyone know if they're going to stick us in the upper tier a usual? Or due to the expected low crowd we might be back in the old lower tier away end?
Griffo Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Trains from Sheffield, Hotel and ticket for under £60. Not bad at all. +£100 on us inevitably all drinking ourselves into a coma.
trousers Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Trousers Jnr wants to go to this as it's half term, but will set me back c.£300 in total. I may just offer him a tenner as a bribe to stop pestering us to go...

There's not many better things in life than watching your side put out a reserve team in the early rounds of a competition that most clubs find pointless, at the opposite end of the country, on a Wednesday night. Go on, treat him.

bangkoksaint Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Trains from Sheffield, Hotel and ticket for under £60. Not bad at all. Dan, what hotel and where? Been looking but can't find any decent cheap ones.

Griffo Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Exactly Griffo my son! I dunno why the club even bothered offering tickets. I wouldnt go if it was free, no chance I am going. I was being serious. Plastic. Man up and support the team FFS. I am going you pr*ck. Bit hypocritical of you isn't it.. I seem to remember your comments about Middlesbrough away when we could have got promoted. Yeah, you remember.
Griffo Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Dan, what hotel and where? Been looking but can't find any decent cheap ones. Sunderland Central Travelodge is 40 quid in the which is what we've got. Helps cost when there's 3/4 of you in the room though.

sandwichsaint Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Anyone know if they're going to stick us in the upper tier a usual? Or due to the expected low crowd we might be back in the old lower tier away end? How low's low? Two PL teams Home draw, 2 rounds away from a semi-final Reasonably attractive oppo (us!) Half term, adults 15, kids 5, footy hotbed Winnable game (s******) for their new manager Reckon they will get 20k easily. Would make sense for them to house our massive downstairs and mothball the upstairs for the evening.
trousers Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Should be able to do it under £200 easily. Train tickets = £160 Travelodge = £44 Match Tickets = £20 Eating/drinking out = c.£50 Flowers for wife = £40 Total = £314
Griffo Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Train tickets = £160 Travelodge = £44 Eating/drinking out = c.£50 Flowers for wife = £40 Total = £294 Train tickets aren't £160 quid. Also are you planning on buying your wife a whole flower shop? 40 quid!?

Yeah that's my thinking, 20k a decent crowd, but plenty of room.to fit the usual away allocation downstairs. Expect we'll get stuck upstairs again, part of the advantage for them of doing that is it requires less stewarding etc I think.

trousers Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Train tickets aren't £160 quid They are on TheTrainLine.com.... what website you looking at? (that's for 2 tickets btw) Also are you planning on buying your wife a whole flower shop? 40 quid!? When was the last time you bought flowers? 1978?
Griffo Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 (edited) They are on TheTrainLine.com.... what website you looking at? (that's for 2 tickets btw) When was the last time you bought flowers? 1978? From London I think 2 singles came to about 50 quid. With a 2nd ticket (kids) that should come to under 100 for the 2 of them. Then whatever it costs to get to and from London. Can't see it coming near to £160. Use East Coast and book singles to and from Kings Cross and then sort out your Southampton - London/London - Southampton separately. If you walk in any newsagents, just inside the door there's flowers for £3/4 usually. If you'd like any more financial help, feel free to PM me. Edited 9 October, 2013 by Griffo
Griffo Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 They are on TheTrainLine.com.... what website you looking at? (that's for 2 tickets btw) When was the last time you bought flowers? 1978? Double post.
Griffo Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 They are on TheTrainLine.com.... what website you looking at? (that's for 2 tickets btw) 12.53 from Kings Cross on Wednesday, arrives in Sunderland for 4.39 (£49.50 for adult and child) 14.06 from Sunderland on Thursday, arrives back at Kings Cross at 18.11 (£38.40 for adult and child) £88 quid in total but that's with me assuming your kid is young enough to get a kids train ticket. Then just add on the to and from London trains, should be a fair bit under £160.
Turkish Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Train tickets = £160 Travelodge = £44 Match Tickets = £20 Eating/drinking out = c.£50 Flowers for wife = £40 Total = £314 its probably best you don't go if you're one of those blokes that has to buy the missus a present everytime you leave the house without her.
trousers Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 its probably best you don't go if you're one of those blokes that has to buy the missus a present everytime you leave the house without her. It's either that or fending off demands for more copulation than an unfit 45 year old bloke can muster

Will cost us £43 to get into London and then another c.£12 for tube fare there and back. So, that's only £17 shy of £160. So I'm still looking at c.£250 (even if I go for the Sainsburys flowers...)
Sour Mash Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 They are on TheTrainLine.com.... what website you looking at? (that's for 2 tickets btw) When was the last time you bought flowers? 1978? Use east Coast Trains website, no booking fee and runs well. You could do it from mid-Hants, return for £90 with a family railcard, not cheap, but not bad as a one off either.

Turkish Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 It's either that or fending off demands for more copulation than an unfit 45 year old bloke can muster I don't get why you feel the need to buy her something because you want to go to the football, why do you?
trousers Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 I don't get why you feel the need to buy her something because you want to go to the football, why do you? So that people ask me why I do it on football forums. Don't tell the missus though. She thinks I do it because I like her.
Griffo Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 I don't get why you feel the need to buy her something because you want to go to the football, why do you? Will you be making the short journey?
Turkish Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 Will you be making the short journey? Sadly not, I'm away with work.
Grey Crab Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 I don't get why you feel the need to buy her something because you want to go to the football, why do you? Because he isn't an internet hardman like you.
sandwichsaint Posted 9 October, 2013 Posted 9 October, 2013 It's either that or fending off demands for more copulation than an unfit 45 year old bloke can muster How about I bung you 40 quid and take care of the copulation? You won't need to buy her flowers (guaranteed) and you and the nipper have 80 quid for a boys night out in Sunderland. Win / win and she will probably get you a little something for when you get home.
Turkish Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 So that people ask me why I do it on football forums. Don't tell the missus though. She thinks I do it because I like her. fair enough, it's just a bit wierd that's all. You're not alone in doing it though, i know another bloke who has to appease his missus by buying her presents everytime he wants to do anything without her, he's a right dweeb though and clearly greatful just to have a women, the sort of bloke you'd find at Chris De Burgh concerts.

You need sad people in the world like me to make everyone else look and feel better about themselves. It's what the good Lord put me on the planet for and its a sacrifice I'm prepared to make for ultimate sanctuary in the bosom of mother Mary in heaven above.
Bucks Saint Posted 10 October, 2013 Posted 10 October, 2013 My missus buys me a present when I have to go out without her, as she thinks I need to be reminded / compensated. Quite right too. Ok, so I messed up badly some years before with my choice, leading to an expensive divorce, but think I have it cracked now

Saint Garrett Posted 17 October, 2013 Posted 17 October, 2013 This has been put back a week apparently on instruction of the Football League. It will now happen on 6th November....not sure why the Football League has anything to do with a team between 2 prem teams but there we go !
Sour Mash Posted 17 October, 2013 Posted 17 October, 2013 Absolute f****g joke, me and my lot have paid out for trains, hotels, booked time off work, absolute disgrace.

It will now happen on 6th November....not sure why the Football League has anything to do with a team between 2 prem teams but there we go ! It's the OB again isn't it, they're afraid that with the Newcastle/Sunderland game the week-end before and Newcastle being at home on the same evening there will be trouble. Bunch of Marys, might as well just close down the whole country because no matter what you do there will always be "trouble" of some sort.

They've know that is the case since the draw was made nearly a month ago, was no reason why this game couldn't have been moved a week either way after the original draw, rather than wait until less than two weeks before the game. Proper p**s taking c**ts!

I don't understand why they think there will be trouble, they're both at home so they won't be travelling near/past each other they'll just be staying in their own f*cking cities.

LGTL Posted 17 October, 2013 Posted 17 October, 2013 I would have been going up but had already booked a break in Madrid. Have two mates heading up, hotels booked, time taken off work....they are going to be seriously ****ed off. Has it been confirmed?
Window Cleaner Posted 17 October, 2013 Posted 17 October, 2013 (edited) I don't understand why they think there will be trouble, they're both at home so they won't be travelling near/past each other they'll just be staying in their own f*cking cities. because they're a bunch of pussies who are afraid of their own shadow . However I suppose the thinking is that with the Tyne-Wear game at the week-end they'll need loads of coppers, then having to police 2 games in their region on the same day will need even more and that with the half term holidays there won't be enough coppers on normal time to go round whereas putting off one of the matches would alleviate the problem.
