Shroppie Posted 8 October, 2013 Share Posted 8 October, 2013 It's an international break and I'm bored already. So, for amusement, how close can you get to an alphabet of Saints players, past or present? For an element of competition, where there are plenty yo choose from (eg Lallana, Lambert,Lovren) the most recent wins. I'll start with Antonio, Boruc, Clyne. Easy so far. Will be impressed if anyone can do Q, X or Z.

Olallana Posted 8 October, 2013 Share Posted 8 October, 2013 Quashie - very good, forgot about him. Think Zoltan is cheating. Then the Z will go empty......Another twist on it is to name as unknown player (to the public) you can remember for each letter....like Duncan Spedding or Fred Titmuss... Dellman Posted 8 October, 2013 Share Posted 8 October, 2013 A good exercise is to pick a whole Saints team beginning with, say, B and then one beginning with C and so on and see which letter is strongest. I guess it might be W but who would play in goal?

SNSUN Posted 8 October, 2013 Share Posted 8 October, 2013 I can cheat at this, because I have Duncan's "Alphabet of the Saints". So I won't spoil it. Oh, ok, well up until publish date in 1991, there were no Q's, X's or Z's. So Quashie aside, it can't be done.

Bad Wolf Posted 9 October, 2013 Share Posted 9 October, 2013 http://www.sporcle.com/games/Freddie/football-league-xis-southampton 148, mainly from the modern era as I only got into football in 2005. Funny how these names are so obvious once they're revealed! It was actually 147 but I did put "Guly" in, turned out it wanted "Do Prado" so I'm giving myself a point for that one.
