...is returning this Christmas for a one off special, written by the original writer Roy Clarke.

 

Good idea or bad idea in your opinion?

 

On the face of it, I'd say bad decision. While it was before my time, I've always enjoyed watching the episodes when they're repeated, but a lot of that was largely due to the affable Ronnie Barker. I can't see how it would translate to modern times either, especially as the episode is only scheduled for half an hour.

 

What is it with the BBC and trying to find David Jason a project around Christmastime. The Royal Bodyguard was woeful. Still, they've won, because no doubt I'll be watching it, out of curiosity more than anything.

Poor Arkwright died on his Honeymoon night after grossly overexerting himself with Nurse Gladys Emmanuel. Granville inherited the shop, but later fell off his bike and was forced to sell up to a Pakistani immigrant. The shop is now another branch of Tesco's Direct.
