Away Allocations

Watching the Liverpool v Palace highlights it's clear Palace had many more tickets than us - seeing as though we sold out and many couldn't tickets, it begs the question why??

Seeing as though Man Utd is also sold out and many are seeking tickets, have we also taken less than entitled to? Whilst I appreciate with a larger allocation the club has to cough up if we don't sell them, it would suggest the club are being over cautious at the expense of fans who would like to go.

Our away support over the past few seasons has been as good as it's ever been so it makes no sense to me.

We're about 400 down on the full allocation at Old Trafford, I think.

The Liverpool one was particularly odd considering it sold really quickly last year. Taking a reduced allocation was mildly understandable at Norwich as we didn't sell the full allocation last season.

I'm guessing the club don't actually make any money bar booking fees on away tickets? From the financial point of view it's not worth the risk of having to pay for tickets we haven't sold.

I think the club gets 5% of the gate receipts for an away allocation.

I thought it was nothing? Didn't all that stop a long time ago?

Important distinction here, the concept of shared gate receipts in the league that was done away with in the 70s/80s was based on the full gate takings.

The commission that, say, Saints earn from a trip to Old Trafford is 5% of the money that passes through the Saints ticket office before being given to Manchester United, i.e. it only applies to tickets SFC sells for its allocation.

Home games aren't selling out, until this happens then they want to keep the demand for away's as high as possible. Hoping that as someone couldn't go to an away game then they'll go to a home instead the week after.

The away allocations are selling out to ST holders.

In general it keeps the demand high. Means it's hard for people living near away grounds to go to that 1 game a year they may go to.

It's harsh but least there's a system in place to reward st holders first.

If you're really wanting to go to a game then ask someone for their numbers?

Just be very careful who you ask or you may get dropped in it

do we know how we are spending our 200000 yet

thet should subsidise the cost of tickets for Chelsea away for game live on Sky for starters, rather than free coaches

£10 off a ticket = £30,000 if we sell our full allocation

then everyone attending benifits rather than the minority that go by coach

Are season ticket holders likely to take the full allocation for Newcastle?

Was hoping to get tickets for that one.

St James's Park (or whatever it's called nowadays) is pretty big and it's a long way away. Would imagine we'd be OK for Newcastle and Sunderland.
