A page article in the Echo last week, his wife runs some fashion/model agency from their house in Poole. Basically it was rented out and when his career was coming to an end they decided to rent out their northern property and move back down south. No sooner they did it, the Accrington job came up "an offer he couldn't refuse" so they now see each other about every 9 or 10 days.

Yeah, he doesn't live in Bournemouth, he lives in Poole. His kids went to the same school as ours until a couple of months ago, they were on the waiting list for places at a school in one of the posher parts of Poole, nearer his home, which they have now got. So my missus doesn't get to chat him up at the school gates any more, probably a good thing.

I saw him at the school sports day, he hadn't long been apppointed Accrington's manager at the time, he spent much of the sports day on his mobile, presumably football-related business.

Wish Beatts well - tough job at Stanley and with the likes of Fleetwood, Oxford, Chesterfield, Plymouth and the skates with their wage budgets for that level, competing is tough for them. He's brought in some decent players for that level and I think given time they will pick up. Torquay locally have bought some very tidy players but are also struggling, Tisdale is doing wonderfully well to have Exeter in 3rd as they are totally skint. Some very happy people - not just Saints fans - at work this morning after they battered Plymouth 3-1 at the weekend.

Is he less of an egotistical **** then he was when he was younger ?

Such a big head for a man who technically wasnt very good

I Was going to post something similar but decided not too. He was an utter c*ck when he was a player here, used to see him in the Rhino a fair bit c2000-2002 and was really full of himself and playing the big i am all the time.

Live in Bournemouth?? Has he been sacked by Accrington?

Pat from Poole covered what I was going to say...

I actually saw Accrington play Dagenham and Redbridge on Friday night, they were barely going to be accused of playing football, and conceded from two breakaways, before scoring with the rebound of their only shot of the game to that point late on after some awful goalkeeping. Terrible match, little skill on show outside of Caton, Odejayi and Zavon Hines. They've got a chance of staying up if he can partner Odejayi with someone who can finish.

Beattie amusingly parked his personalised plated car right next to a ramshackle portakabin near the players' entrance (avoiding the autograph hunters in the main car park). Bit of a contrast.

.....sounds a bit reminicent of Alan Ball's time at Saints.

After he finally stopped playing, Ballie left the area to coach / manage... a number of " far-flung clubs " but retained his property in the county.

He finally put it on the market but it took over 2 years to find a buyer. Two weeks later, Saints sacked Ian Branfoot and offered him the managers job !
