Mr X Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Definitely got all the attributes to be a great striker for us, just seems to be trying a little too hard at the moment, and choosing the wrong option all the time when he works his way into good positions, its very early days, do you see him forming an understanding with lambert or another option? or is he better on his own upfront?
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Seems to work hard, and possess all the attributes to be a very good striker for the club. Slightly slow start, but I see nothing to suggest he can't be very good for us.
Toon Saint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Some of the interplay b/w the front four was great in the first 25 mins. Osvaldo should have taken that early chance first time, though the ball did bobble up at a difficult height for him. That said, his cross-field ball from the left flank out to Lambert on the right, who should have really played in Lallana for a second, was fantastic. Unfortunate he was subbed off with a knock as he was looking lively. Keep saying it but would really like to see him play in tandem with Ramirez, but with Gaston's fitness issues, it doesn't look like happening anytime soon.

Is ramirez officially injured at the moment then?
Toon Saint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Is ramirez officially injured at the moment then? Match fitness clearly an issue given Jesus's comments after Bristol City game. No idea whether he was injured for today, but seems to be a long way from first XI at the moment.
Olallana Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Is ramirez officially injured at the moment then? Picked up a knock in training that made him miss the game.

I haven't been a fan of Ramirez so far but feel Osvaldo is the type of player he may well be better partnered with
Mr X Posted 6 October, 2013 Author Posted 6 October, 2013 Picked up a knock in training that made him miss the game. THanks all being well he should be back for united then, If he's left out of that one then perhaps he is out of favour with Mo Po
Olallana Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 THanks all being well he should be back for united then, If he's left out of that one then perhaps he is out of favour with Mo Po Can´t see changing the team too much for that one, hopefully Shaw for Fox but otherwise I´d expect the same if everyone´s fit. Ramirez on the bench and available if we go behind. I actually hope the knock keeps him out of the national teams games now so he can stay and get some good workouts instead, even if it´s on the bike...
The Saint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 At the end of the game, MP was interviewed by Solent and he said that Ramirez was not injured and would be fit for the upcoming internationals. I'm beginning to think that Gaston is not on the bus....

The Saint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 With the exception of Guly, I would not have changed the bench to accommodate Ramirez.
Picard Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Interesting how well Roma are doing without Osvaldo and Lamela.
BGF Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 So will he be here much longer? http://www.footballfancast.com/premiership/southampton/southampton-star-hints-at-possible-exit
Olallana Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 So will he be here much longer? http://www.footballfancast.com/premiership/southampton/southampton-star-hints-at-possible-exit Who knows.... http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/8955346/southamptons-daniel-osvaldo-enjoying-challenge-of-adapting-to-premier-league
offix Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 With NBC now broadcasting every premier league match here in the States I have been able to watch all our games in their entirety. Granted it doesn't give the same perspective as being there, but so far I am not at all impressed with Osvaldo. it seems to me that we spend an enormous amount of money and (so far at least) what we got back we could have gotten from a whole slew of other players for a lot less money.
Bobbyboy Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 NBC also hinting at him wanting to leave, citing Daily Mail and Sunday People: http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/06/pablo-osvaldos-slams-premier-league-says-he-wishes-to-play-elsewhere/
Saint_clark Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 With the exception of Guly, I would not have changed the bench to accommodate Ramirez. Guly had a 100% pass completion rate when he came on.

He can't perform in this league so he blames "the physical aspect" of the British game? I guess it makes him feel better about his lack of ability.
Faz Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Doesn't surprise me at all. He can't perform in this league so he blames "the physical aspect" of the British game? I guess it makes him feel better about his lack of ability. I shall be saving this quote for later use.
Patrick Bateman Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 So will he be here much longer? http://www.footballfancast.com/premiership/southampton/southampton-star-hints-at-possible-exit Oh well. If he plays like he did today, I could play in his position.
Saint_clark Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 He shows fantastic commitment on the field tbh. I'd like to know where the Daily Star have got those quotes from that no other newspaper has picked up.

TheCholulaKid Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 So will he be here much longer? http://www.footballfancast.com/premiership/southampton/southampton-star-hints-at-possible-exit Interesting that there's a link to this article underneath that was published yesterday: http://www.footballfancast.com/football-news/southampton-star-adapting-well-to-english-football Such a crock of **** these websites.
OldNick Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Watch him celebrate when AL scored, he was ecstatic
OldNick Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Celebrations were for his win bonus. that was uncalled for.....unless you were joking
Tom28 Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Being completely honest, and from someone who really wants him to be amazing, I have to say he hasn't been very good so far. But I think he will be; just needs time. I rate Lambert and Osvaldo equally, and right now if I had to choose between them, then from what I've seen on the pitch this season, I'd pick Lambert. Lambert just gets better and better around the box. Some of his touches and passes in the first half today were complete class. His vision is outstanding.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 I'm amazed that people haven't been impressed, though not surprised if you've only seen him on TV. Personally I think he's been decent and will only get better. I don't think he's great at running at players, but is good around the box.
washsaint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 unbelievable.......some of you obviously don't watch a game that closely. His touch and skill are fantastic: I am doubting that he and SRL can play together over a longer period of time but Osvaldo is class and still adjusting to the Premier League. As the NBC commentators pointed out, we play deep and expect our forwards to track back to help defensively which has helped enormously in making us so difficult to break down.......the flip side is we don't create many chances right now so the strikers won't look as Hollywood as they might otherwise. He is a CL player, of that there is no doubt
S-Clarke Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 His movement and touch is better than any of our other strikers to be honest. He's not done too badly. He's probably had the same sort of impact as Soldado has had at Spurs, and he cost double the amount. Still way too early for him to look the real deal.
Batman Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 thought he was good until he got that knock the cross field pass that lambert nodded down for lallana was great, the balls round the corner are excellent. he could have done better with that early chance but he is very good IMO
ottery st mary Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Osvaldo was class today.....off due to knock.. Such a good footballer and so glad he is in our side.. I see lots more goals coming from this top player.
The Saint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 (edited) Guly had a 100% pass completion rate when he came on. Wasn't knocking him, just saying that I would probably only swap Ramirez for Guly on what was a already a very strong bench.. But then again, I would probably get a decent pass rate if I only played the last two minutes of the game..! Edited 6 October, 2013 by The Saint
Bearsy Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Osvaldo was class today.....off due to knock.. was it deffo a knock? My stream cut out bout then but i assumed it was tactics cos JWP was on when I come back.
kwsaint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Were some of these posters actually at the game? Osvaldo is a class player and shows really good commitment to the team. When Lallana scored the whole team went to celebrate. Agree about Ramirez. Don't think that we will be seeing much of him again and he could well be off in January. If we could get a backup to Shaw then that would help a lot.
Whitey Grandad Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 was it deffo a knock? My stream cut out bout then but i assumed it was tactics cos JWP was on when I come back. Got crocked by a tackle.
ottery st mary Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 was it deffo a knock? My stream cut out bout then but i assumed it was tactics cos JWP was on when I come back. He had taken a very heavy/foul tackle and was hobbling.... Sub due to safety precaution etc.......JWP was a good tactical sub as well.... but Osvaldo was injured.
Nolan Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 If anyone wants the (Spanish) words from the horses mouth. The Osvaldo interview which is cited is here http://www.ciudad.com.ar/espectaculos/110397/jimena-baron-daniel-osvaldo-enamorados-futuros-papas-hablaron-desde-inglaterra

Colinjb Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Great player, him and Rickie are really beginning to learn how to link up and his link up play with the midfield is superb, he is such a handful. No mistake that when he picked up the knock we were tactically off kilter.
SB Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 His body language leaving the ground earlier was interesting to say the least.
Saint_clark Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 His body language leaving the ground earlier was interesting to say the least. Thanks.
Alwightmush Posted 7 October, 2013 Posted 7 October, 2013 Dani Osvaldo @danistone25 31m I'm happy in the premier league and i Love Southampton !!! I do not understand why false things write...
farawaysaint Posted 7 October, 2013 Posted 7 October, 2013 Dani Osvaldo @danistone25 31m I'm happy in the premier league and i Love Southampton !!! I do not understand why false things write... Ah Dani, it's very simple... False things write because English press bottomfeeders.
Olallana Posted 7 October, 2013 Posted 7 October, 2013 And people wonder why MP wont do pressers in english at the moment...
