Proper journalism....??

Sounds to me like he's done an interview where he's been asked where else he'd like to play.

Would be interested to read the full interview and In what context the comment was made.

This was one (amongst many) other translations from the same interview.

Cant find the original source right now.

So what if he does. As long as he work his nuts off while he is here. I am sure Luke Shaw really wants to play for Chelsea and Gaston wants to end up in Uruguay. Don't read Anything in to it. Probably a whole hours interview cramped in to a couple of paragraphs. I reckon it went something like this.

Interviewer , so what do odour think of football in the Uk?

Ossie, it's a lot more physical etc.

Interviewer, blah blah blah question after question etc,

Then right at the end where would you like to finish your career,

Ossie, Wouk love to play for Boca etc.

Lazy journo can't be bothered to write all of it up and just picks out the two paragraphs.

A fantastic article, really well written and full of FACTS and direct quotes. It's great to see we can rely on the daily fail (pmsl) for comprehensive coverage of our club with factually written pieces containing direct quotes for the player themselves rather than wild speculation we have become accustomed to in most red tops.

Not sure what the fuss is about... Anyone with half a brain knows that the interpretation of what he said is what makes a story out if nothing.... Bridge said when he left for Chelsea that he hoped to end his career back at saints .. No different... Just normal stuff. Why papers thinks it's 'interesting enough' to be worth publishing is another matter.... Is an one that interested in that sort of thing..really?

the more success we have , the more we pay em, the more they will 'love' the club... If he scores 40 goals in two seasons and then decides to leave, that's fine in my book and he will be fondly remembered - all there is to it.

The interview Osvaldo originally did was with a evening news programme in Argentina called Telenoche on El Trece (Channel 13).

Obviously they're always want some 'local interest' and in this case it's something along the lines of "will you play in Argentina again?"

HA! This story was just posted on the largest Danish footy site and the angle was that Osvaldo wanted to go home to Argentina now. The first 4 comments were along the lines of "what an idiot", "you signed for them yourself" etc., but from then on, someone posted a link to the Sky Sports article and questioned the validity of the Danish article (lifted off Daily Mail etc without checking the original source). A lot of posters then disapproved and 2 minutes ago the article disappeared from the site. WIN! :D

Loosely related to this story is the "Saints aim for CL this season" that came from interviews with Wanyama, Boruc, Pochettino and?

If someone could provide the background for those quotes, I would be grateful. I keep running into the "Ha ha, Saints think they will finish 4th this season", and I'm quite sure that it is nowhere near what our players have said - afair they all said some time in the future.

What annoys me is that it gives journalists an opportunity to ask other managers etc. questions about our present CL-ambitions to make the story spin out of control: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/8957697/swansea-boss-michael-laudrup-questions-southampton-ambitions

I doubt anyone really believed he actually wanted to come here for any other reason than to work towards a bigger move. As mentioned above, no problem with that at all.
I don't think it was necessarily to work towards a bigger move, but we were definitely a way out of Roma for him.

The amount of (reported) persuasion it took to get him to agree to come here suggests he won't be here long term and that's fine. As long as he contributes to our success and we get a decent wedge for him when he goes, everyone's a winner.
