Obviously, he is a very good goalkeeper, I'm not saying he isn't.

But seriously, what is going on with him at the moment? So many horror shows. He looks utterly bereft of any confidence - which I also thought of as one of his strongest assets.

Bizarre seeing him just crumble of late. Hope he pulls it back together for England - if Rickie is in the squad, I'd quite like us to do well.

Been the same for a year or two, the clean sheets last season were mainly down to the defence.

Fraser Forster should be Englands number 1 without a doubt, saying he won't be because he plays for Celtic is ridiculous as he's pulled some outstanding performances out of the bag in the Champions League and especially against Barca.

I can't really comment on FF, I've seen next to nothing on him. I wonder how wise it would be to do now? It may work, and I'm certainly not writing FF off, but it may also be a McClaren moment - slinging in Scott Carson at the deep end in the crucial game against Croatia. Something to think about at least.

I think Hart could maybe do with being dropped. He hasn't been challenged in the slightest for a few years now, at club or national level.

Should City maybe have a word with Eric Steele? He did a great job on De Gea, who clearly had great ability, but understandly struggled with the pressure and attention when first moving to Utd. He looked a bit lost at times. Now, he looks a fantastic keeper. Utd could well be set for the next 10-15 years with him.

The usual hype surrounding him. He's a good keeper, broke onto the scene a few years back and was immediately hailed the as the world greatest keeper and the best keeper in the Premier League. The reality is he's still a young by keepers standards and has had to learn his trade in the glare of playing for one of the highest profile clubs in the world. Yes he looks berift of any confidence at the moment and it's no wonder when after one mistake people are questioning if hes good enough anymore. He'll probably go the way of a lot of keepers like Foster, Kirkland, Richard Wright. Rather than being allowed to develop their game naturally they are built up well beyond their ability and level and then destroyed.

Pretty much this though I will say in his pomp his was up there with the top goalkeepers in the world, easily top 5.

He appears to be a little fragile right now mentally, if anything City could do with a reserve keeper able to rival him, not sure if pantilimon (sp?) is that man. Its a shame really as he is a very very able keeper with all the right attributes but it seems some costly mistakes have got in his head of late.

It's a great name though.

Mancini said on his way out that after last season, he was concerned about Hart and planned to buy a keeper good enough to rival him

Hart has fallen into the English press trap of after a few good games, getting hailed as the best in the world

Much like cole is apparently the best LB in the world still. When he isn't.

And Rooney, is one of the best strikers in the world etc etc

I'd personally plump for Baines over Cole at present.

But it has to be said, whatever you think of him as a person he would surely be amongst the best Left Backs on the planet over the past 10 years. He was so bloody good for a very long time.

he is. but it seems the default view by commentators. 'cole is the best left back in the world'. he was, but baines is surely better now

Not sure about that. I think the season they won the title he was up there with Casillas and Neuer, but he hasn't hit those heights since.

If we'd have bought Jack Butland for six million quid last year, he'd definitely be worth £25m now. Definitely. What a missed opportunity.

Hart has suffered because he's been coached at City by a continental coach. His technique is very peculiar and not particularly suited to the English game. Personally, if I was Hart, I would be pushing for an English coach. There are loads of top quality English goalie coaches around. Saints have had some decent ones recently in Coles and Granger.

A really basic error at a crucial time in the match, very poor. The problem we have is that such is the hype around hart the other keepers are untried at international level. Forster, Foster and Ruddy are all good keepers but only really have a handful if friendlies now to stake a claim to the England shirt for Brazil. Which isn't ideal at all.
