stevegrant Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 The intersections just don't work. Maldini, Mabbutt, Walcott, Bergkamp as women
sandwichsaint Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Alan Hansen? Hardly a pivotal figure in 150 years of football is he?
alpine_saint Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Typical FA. No MLT. Absolutely ridiculous.
Lets B Avenue Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Alan Hansen? Hardly a pivotal figure in 150 years of football is he? Should have been Lawro.
Saint_clark Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Lescott, Jagielka, Joe Cole, Woodgate, Riise, Clichy, Anelka, Gallas, Nasri, Saha, Rob Green, Schwarzer, Dempsey, Ben Foster, Given, Butland, MILE JEDINAK??? Adebayor, Obi Mikel, Skrtel, Matt Upson, Hangelaand. That's the list of players who I really can't see why they're in there. Bolded the most ridiculous one...why the f*ck is Palaces captain in there?
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 nice idea, think they could have had a cult heros line so to include some more maverick players from up and down the country.
Patrick Bateman Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Spot the ex-Saints players/managers... http://www.thefa.com/News/2013/oct/~/media/A3340A58E70245C2BCF8F35142994BD8.ashx No MLT...? What's the point of it?
Ohio Saint Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 What's the point of it? To get you lost in London.
moonraker Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 The intersections just don't work. Maldini, Mabbutt, Walcott, Bergkamp as women You missed out the most important crossover player - Jimmy Dickinson!
studentsaint Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Never thought I'd here the words 'I'm getting off at tony Adams'
Sour Mash Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 What's the point of it? I do wonder how much spare cash the FA must have lying around to p**s about on various schemes and ideas.
Fan The Flames Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 It's meant to celebrate 150 years of English football, but it doesn't represent 150 years.
theyin Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Nice idea, but I think it's a bit naff. eh? how's that work?
Saint_clark Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 It's meant to celebrate 150 years of English football, but it doesn't represent 150 years. That's exactly the problem. The list of players I posted above surely cannot be considered pivotal points in the FAs history.

I quite like it but it's all a bit random, which is of course part of the attraction. Maybe this Jedanak guy represents a particular country? I don't really know anything about him. Maybe a design with club names / ground names / nicknames and reaching down into the non-league would have been better? Maybe I've got too much time on my hands?

Hatch Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 John Barnes to Michael Owen for me normally, although sometimes I get on Stanley Matthews.
moonraker Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 MILE JEDINAK??? yes but as the foot notes say he has a special local or station connection? he plays for Palace is a Auz international and seems to be representing New Cross over ground Stn. which on this map is the nearest to Selhurst Park, still a bit random tough!
SaintDonkey Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Any idea why Mick Channon is listed as Mike Channon? I can just about forgive a special relationship to Newbury Park - even if it's a completely different Newbury to the race course.
mightysaints Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 I was at Westminster this morning and they had the FA CUP in the tube station. I think they were interviewing Michael Essien
Hamilton Saint Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 lols theo is in with the women players Look at the map's Key.

Pilsmer Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 I live at Liam Brady and work at Paolo Maldini. Saints are quite well represented on the Goalkeeper Line.
Cheam Saint Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Alan Hansen? Hardly a pivotal figure in 150 years of football is he? Yeah, like he could only win 8 league titles.
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Yeah, like he could only win 8 league titles. Not to mention 3 x (the equivalent of) Champions League winner. No, definitely not pivotal....
CB Fry Posted 3 October, 2013 Posted 3 October, 2013 Yeah, like he could only win 8 league titles. Not to mention 3 x (the equivalent of) Champions League winner. No' date=' definitely not pivotal....[/quote'] ...and the foremost figure in television analysis on the biggest football show in the country on the nations biggest channel for nigh on twenty years. But what's he ever done?
KK the 2nd Posted 4 October, 2013 Posted 4 October, 2013 IAny idea why Mick Channon is listed as Mike Channon? I can just about forgive a special relationship to Newbury Park - even if it's a completely different Newbury to the race course. As a young player coming through he was known as Mike ... latterly and to most people it is Mick now
Dellman Posted 4 October, 2013 Posted 4 October, 2013 It doesn't reflect 150 years, they're nearly all modern, we were dominant between the wars and I don't see Ted Drake, Cliff Bastin or the greats of the first 100 years and how are Peter Bonetti and Jack Butland in and Frank Swift out?
once_bitterne Posted 4 October, 2013 Posted 4 October, 2013 Was Fabrice Fernandes on the Circle line?
