South City Si Posted 1 October, 2013 Share Posted 1 October, 2013 Right, am thinking about getting a BBQ smoker. Love the food and as we haven't got a smokehouse restaurants round here thought be good to try myself. Thought any of you might be BBQ officianados and give me some advice about decent smokers and cooking tips. Have some decent rubs & sauce just need the equipment now. Don't want to spend too far above £100, especially adding on wood chips, covers, etc. Any tips would be great.
swannymere Posted 1 October, 2013 Share Posted 1 October, 2013 It is quite mental that there are no US style BBQ restaurants around, what with the popularity of shows like Diners, Drive-Ins & Dive's and Man Vs. Food.

We really need something similar in Southampton

South City Si Posted 2 October, 2013 Author Share Posted 2 October, 2013 There are a few in London now, with one in Bristol and Brighton, but that's as close as there for a US BBQ round here! The American Diner thing has picked up again, but not BBQ. Pulled pork on Sunday at Wembley just reminded me again. This is my "if I won the lottery" to set one up! Would love a bluesy dive bar/smokehouse, just have to get a ticket! Oh well as said will get small smoker for home and do it myself!

swannymere Posted 2 October, 2013 Share Posted 2 October, 2013 There was a place in the parade of shops opposite The Bittern Pub in Thornhill that used to do Ribs etc. which was OK, closed years back though.
