The guy in the wheelchair was Stuart Williams I think - David Bull was talking to him today

I saw David Bull on Saturday, but it was only after that I realised I've been meaning to ask him for years if he still has the tape of his conversation with my Grandad - he must have met him years ago, 2000 or so and I know they talked about Charlie Wayman and his bike etc etc., but I'd really love a copy of the tape of transcript just to see what he said.

Would you be able to ask him for me please as I've lost his email address? He might not remember, but he interviewed Don Soffe and it was in a pub, er, near, er, Swanwick I think!? 99, 2000 or so?

Patrick - I will do but give it another month as we are up to our eyes in this book. He has kept all his tapes so shouldn't be a problem

It is Stuart Williams in the wheelchair, spent some time chatting with him and his wife in a pub in Cardiff before the Cup final, great guy with many a story.

The get together, at the Atherley Bowling Club, was to celebrate a special event for Stuart Williams (a birthday?)

Unfortunately Stuart has lost part of a leg, due to medical problems, hence the wheelchair

He recently lost his second wife, Carol, but his first wife attended and apparently they still keep in contact, which is nice

I had the pleasure to play in the same team as Stuart back in the mid 70's after his professional career ended and he was known as By-Pass Williams, for some reason.

I am also old enough to remember when Ted Bates signed Stuart, Dave Burnside and George Kirby in the 1960's and transformed a poorly performing team into a decent outfit.

Both Stuart and his brother Graham were full backs who originally played for West Brom and were Welsh internationals
