Stoke

As I teach in the city I'll be getting absolute pelters if we don't get a draw or win!

Great price as well. Adult & kids ticket for Stoke is less than an adults tickets for Utd.

I work in Tamworth and so plenty of Stoke fans with me as well and so a result is a must!

I'm going to Stoke for the first time since moving to the Midlands and would appreciate any advice on parking.

I was thinking about having lunch at the Harvester round the corner and leaving the car there.

Anybody tried this?

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

There are loads of parking spaces on the retail park where the stadium is. I parked on their last year, only problem is that it takes a while to get out afterwards. Think it costs about £5. I wore my Saints shirt in the pub next to the ground and didn't have any bother, its a mixture of home and away fans and there are plenty of police and bouncers about!

I've parked to the east of the ground before and walked across the field. It's not that far and free if you pick the right roads. Then coming out take back roads south until meeting up with the A34 and joining the M6 a junction further down.

I'm in block 37. Does anyone know if this is behind the goal or more towards the corner?

Are you sure ?

last year we had 38, 39 and 40 and didn't quite sell out

if we also have 37 that would be impressive

All the seats I've got are for Block 39

Most definitely 37! I only booked them a couple of days ago so I'm guessing we've taken up the largest allocation and have nearly sold it out. At £25 a pop I'd expect so too.

That would be some achievement if we have blocks 37, 38, 39 & 40!

We just have amazing away support! When I bought them on the 4 away games (due to using another account) they were in block 39 and another ticket for a Manure friend on general sale was far 38, so I wouldn't be surprised if we had sold most of 37 aswell!

How far along of block 37? If they are far along with sales still going I would imagine we would totally out sing them as we did last season with even less support!

only concern is if we have taken a larger allocation that the club has to guarantee sale for , then don't sell out, this will give the club justification for not taking big allocations in the future.

I see Stoke are doing a deal where season ticket holders can buy 2 extra seats for £10 each, surprised the home end is yet to sell out as well

The rules have changed. As part of the Premier League's realisation that, while attendances overall are increasing, away attendances are falling, they have also realised that the "guaranteed sale" rules have made clubs whose away attendances are variable take an unambitious approach.

I was told by somebody who sits on the "Football Fixture Panel" (yes, there is such a thing) that the league had decided to just ban "guaranteed sale" allocations. Looking at the Premier League rulebook for this season, that's not quite the case, but the rules do certainly seem much more relaxed than in previous years.

Essentially, the home club will give the visiting club a list of potential allocations based on seating blocks where the home club can reasonably segregate between home and away fans, and the visiting club has to decide 4 weeks before the game which allocation they want. Once they've done that, and if the visiting club requests an allocation that is below the maximum, the home club can start selling tickets in the block(s) the visiting club has rejected, so there's no scope for increasing an allocation after that point.

The visiting club have to pay for all of the tickets requested in that allocation, with the following caveats:

1. if the visiting club fully sells out all except the final seating block, they do NOT have to pay for any unsold tickets in that final seating block;

2. if the visiting club wishes to return an entire block of tickets, they must do so at least 10 days before the game, and if the home club cannot sell them, the visiting club must pay for that block of tickets (with the price determined based on the ratio of adult:concession tickets actually sold by the visiting club).

So basically, if the club believes we'll sell the vast majority of the full allocation for a game, even if it's not the entire allocation, they will not be liable for any unsold tickets. They just have to have sold 50% or more of the final block. As a result, it makes a mockery of their decision to take reduced allocations at Norwich, Liverpool and Man United. Not so much at Chelsea because of the circumstances of the game.

They've seen even fewer goals this season than they did under Pulis, so I can't say I'm that surprised. A game against the team who have seen the lowest number of total goals in their games so far this season isn't likely to be much of a selling point
