hypochondriac Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Ask me again when we have played United City Arsenal Chelsea and Everton.
Professor Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 It's far too early to get carried away but only 2 teams have more points than us after 7 games so anything is possible but the only thing that can be predicted with certainty is that we will not finish with less than 14 points! If you do project that average of 2 points per game so far, then 76 points would not have won the title last year but it would have been a Champions' League spot. A couple of thoughts: 1. That even the so-called big clubs have bad results. Even if we were to maintain a high ratio of wins to draws and defeats, it also depends on how well the others around us do and whether some of them go on having bad days - like Spurs today, and it sounds like Arsenal were lucky to get draw at a ground where we got 3 points. On the other hand, Chelsea and Man City are looking very strong. 2.Mention has been made of other clubs having more strength in depth. It's true that might make a difference when suspensions and injuries come along as the season progresses but those other clubs also have more games to play than us, because of European competition. I will make a prediction. If we win at OT, the betting odds on Saints winning the title will shorten dramatically. I still wouldn't put my own money on it though.
OldNick Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 We will finish 8th at best, but still progress is being made. Of course if we buy again in Jan you never know if we could do better
Saint_clark Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Ask me again when we have played United City Arsenal Chelsea and Everton. I'm guessing if we lose just one of those, it will suddenly be impossible?
norwaysaint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Ask me again when we have played United City Arsenal Chelsea and Everton. Why not wait until the end of the season, then you'll definitely be safe.
KelvinsRightGlove Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Ask me again when we have played United City Arsenal Chelsea and Everton. Does an away win against a team doing better than 4/5 of them not count?
Ohio Saint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 A true 4th position, no games in hand or anything. That's me feeling great for a whole two weeks at least!!
CB Fry Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Ask me again when we have played United City Arsenal Chelsea and Everton. This time last year there was an awful lot of pontificating about how no one should give the league table a second glance until a full ten games have been played. Remarkably little of that nowadays.

Dr Who? Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 It is a great time to be a Saints fan, I am enjoying every minute of it!
Bakovnetski Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Another 2 weeks above both Manc teams. Magic.
Tractor_Saint Posted 6 October, 2013 Posted 6 October, 2013 Another 2 weeks above both Manc teams. Magic. And, unlikely as it may be, if we lose against ManUre next game, we'll still be above them in the table
