Probably not no. Think some people are getting a bit carried away....We've only played WBA, Sunderland, Norwich, WHU, Liverpool and Palace ! We'll see how we get on at Old Trafford and then when we play against Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Top 6 is a possible but very unlikely. 7th is possible...

No. We do not have the squad depth of City, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, or even Liverpool Swansea or Everton, nor do we have the world class match winners of your Suarez, Coutinho's, RVP's, Dzekos etc of the league.

I think we do, whether they are of sufficient quality to finish fourth, well yes I agree. But our bench is top notch. Swansea and Everton???

I kinda feel the same disbelief as I did when we were at the top of the championship and look what happened there! Saying that Swansea will be a tough test but I've never been more confident of getting something at Old Trafford !

Well, we were certainly not a match for Citeh and Chelski last season. :D

In m keeping my feet firmly on the ground and enjoying the moment. Keep this up and who knows. The next run of sutures could really propel us and put some serious points on the board.

Keep things simple, keep things tight at the back and take your chances when they come.

Love being a Saints fan right now.

I'd expect a defeat next week, just to bring us back down to earth. I think 8th-10th should be a target, I still believe the likes of Swansea and Everton are a level above us. Would love to be proved wrong though. We're certainly building solid foundations, yesterday I wasn't worried one bit about not winning the game once we were 2 up, which makes a change. Will be interesting once we start playing some of the top sides (I do not include Liverpool in that). There's no reason we can't get a few points off of then. Let's just try and keep calm when we come unstuck against a few teams below us

No, we won't come close but I couldn't care less really. If we get top 10 I will be thrilled. Thrilled is something old people are but I've promised myself I'm gonna be it if we get top 10.

Top 4? No chance. Not to be pessimistic but I'd be amazed if we're 4th after another 6 games.

However, being in this position gives us great confidence and belief, and with that (hopefully) comes better and better performances.

We're showing signs of being a very good side cos like the best sides, we are getting points when not playing at our best and that is mostly down to the new found resilience of the back 5. OK, we're not scoring many, but if you keep a clean sheet then you only need to score 1, and while you do keep a clean sheet, you'll never lose.

When we start finding the net more regularly we'll be a real force. Maybe not top 4, but top 7/8.

Ha, thought I would see a thread like this after yesterdays game. We will probably lose to Swansea as consistency is our main issue and then there will be a thread claiming that MP hasn't taken us to the next level and that 2 points from Sunderland, West Ham and Swansea at home is woeful.

We will likely have a nice mid table season without fear of relegation unless we start winning 3-4 games on the spin fairly regularly.

Still think we'll be somewhere around 8th to 12th.

But it's surprising what a wobbly start some of the big teams have had.

is it?

the team top are the team with the same manager from last year

I always think 'Remember Hull' when this topic comes up. They were top after a couple of months (memory fails exactly). Then they went down, I think the same season. Probably a few other examples - Norwich?

When we were -10 in League one NC said his target and ambition was to be in the Champions League position in five years, it's now five years and we are! Who could have believed it? Well he did and we owe him a lot

Yes it is possible. We could win the league, that is also possible. What most people on here are doing is confusing possible with probable. We could win every game between now and the end of the season. Possible, but not very probable in most peoples view. However, let's just be happy with looking at the league and being fourth. Isn't it a fantastic feeling. The younger ones on here won't know how it feels so enjoy yourselves supporting a fantastic club!

I was joking above, clearly.

But see no reason why we can't have a good season, as said probably somewhere 8-12th I'd imagine.

That said, Strachan had us 4th at Xmas 10 years ago, in my opinion we have a better team at present.

Let's just enjoy the ride eh? I reckon we'll have a few more Anfield days, upsetting some of the big boys, and obviously a few horror shows along the way too. We'll probably get done at home by Hull or someone. Not the end of the world really, surely this is why we watch football, because it is unpredictable.

It's going to be hard for those that seem to revel in misery this year I think. Bless 'em.

A thought occurred to me last week when I was at the Emirates (a really nice stadium) that for all the claims of you have to spend mega-money to have success, up until very recently, Arsenals record signing was Arshavin for £15m. Relatively little really. Especially who you consider the players they have had, and the sums they have been sold for. To clarify, I am not saying we are going to get a CL spot or seriously challenge for the League title - but it does show what can be achieved when a club is well run, which Arsenal certainly are - granted more so when David Dein was there.

Personally, i'm just going to enjoy our league position while it lasts. It would be highly, highly improbably for us to be in this position when it matters but while the sun is shining make hay!!

1st-4th - I will suck my own d!ck in the middle of West Quay.

5th-8th - I will run naked into a care home and twerk on an elderly lady.

9th-12th - I will nod sagely and politely applaud the players at FT on the last day.

13th-20th - I will be mildly pensive for a couple of days and spend ages making a HCDAJFU list for the summer ahead.

I want us to come 5th-8th just to witness this.

In fact by merely reproducing last season's points total for the remaining 32 games we would finish at least 8th by last season's standards. So with our actual start 8th would be a pretty disappointing performance actually.
