on the contrary, stonewall got their name in the papers + paddy power got free advertising

And thusly the great campaign vs football homosex was deemed great success.

you are making it sound like was only done for advertising, and not in the hope we get to see which footballers are gay!

About all the rainbow laces stuff, Stonewall were in the metro saying they didn't want footballers to come out for the sake of the fans.... Citing it was a personal decision and nothing to do with the fans.

if I was at work and done some good work, and suddenly all my fit bird colleagues was mobbing me + kissing me + jumping all over me + rubbing hot bodies against mine, I would get boner. I wouldn't be able to help it. Even tho they is just my colleagues + I have girlfriend, I would get boner. I'm even getting boner now just thinking bout it.

Out of interest, does anybody know if any footballer chose to wear the much talked about rainbow laces last weekend?

not the ones that were told to by their clubs but actually wanted to. and has any footballer come out since then, in the massive solidarity pact it was meant to acheive.

:mcinnes:

You are so far from the point it is unreal.

No-one actually expected dozens of footballers to suddenly come out the next week.

It's just Deppo and his individual take on irony. Alas for him though none are biting.

Ahh I see, for what it's worth I don't see anyone coming out any time soon in the premiership and it would probably do more harm harm than good but make no mistake some footballers are gay allegedly ex saints players too though unproven

how far away from the point am i? the point was to show the world that premier league clubs/footballers support the gay footballers and in doing so would make an open and safe environment in which they could come out and be accepted, without anyone singing songs or making up chants about them. surely. so if this is the case, why hasn't it happened, a la clarke carlisle saying it would, and why is it unreal to beleive they would? unless there aren't dozens of gay footballers around as the figures quoted say there is.

Do you really think anyone thought after one weekend of people wearing rainbow laces people are going to start coming out in their droves? That wasn't even remotely the point.

It is to raise awareness of the inherit problem of homosexuality in a macho environment, and in doing so start a discussion about it. From there, conditions can be improved - which will hopefully lead to footballers feeling comfortable to come out, if they so wish.

Yes, we've moved on from having lame footballers playing for us and now want quality players.

Wait, why is everyone talking about coming out? What has all this got to do with homosexuals?

oh your using the fashionable gay=lame term

What about the Jews bear? If we have now done all the gays (mostly you I'll admit), shouldn't we move on to the Jews who want to go to football but don't feel safe about it and then the ghosts after that?

yeah ok but i don't know what colour laces jews like. Is anyone here jew? What colour is ur laces?

yeah it does mean that on the streets. On radio they was talking bout lexicons, which is where the oxford dictionary man counts up how people use words and then changes the dictionary definition accordingly. He didn't mention if they is turning gay tho.

is there a massive contingent of closet jews that need our support? and anyway, it is not jews next, it is gingers!

Which is exactly what most people were saying anyway, it's nothing to do with us so why is there a whole campaign about it? If a Saints player came out here and now, would any Saints fan honestly give a sh*t?

Danny Higginbotham did QUOTE]

No he didn't

He did wear rainbow laces last week playing for Chester. He mentioned on Twitter before he wrote his article

MODS: What the hell is this topic doing on the main board. The original started last December was moved to the Lounge where such discussions should be.

This was written after the event.... post his tweet

If my club, Chester FC, had been provided with the rainbow laces I would have proudly worn them, no questions asked
