Saint Garrett Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Crap draw. Meh! Just wanted a home draw!!
Dazza82 Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 This will show how far we want to go in this competition, I would expect us to play a stronger side than we have so far to progress plus it might be against our good friend poyet!
Saint_clark Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Could be entirely Prem in the quarters.
hypochondriac Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Could be entirely Prem in the quarters. Although the NPC teams have a decent chance to progress from that.
Bourno Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 It's half term - so cheap tickets and subsidised transport form our EPL away fund ha ha ha ha
MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Does anyone have an inkling as to what the club travel would be like - cost, time, even likely to offer? I'd be up for going if travel plus ticket didn't top £50ish.
Saint-scooby Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Fly up, coach travel that long will kill most people
stevegrant Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Ugh, what a **** draw for anyone who doesn't live within an hour or two of Sunderland
trousers Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 @kristemple: Sunderland play Newcastle on the Sunday before League Cup tie v #Saintsfc, and both Sund & Newc can't play their home cup ties on same night
SuperMikey Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 One of the games will get pushed to Wednesday then. Hopefully not ours, take advantage of a tired squad from the Sunday derby match.
Toon Saint Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Drinks at mine beforehand? Gay men and Jewish peeps only.
Sour Mash Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Does anyone have an inkling as to what the club travel would be like - cost, time, even likely to offer? I'd be up for going if travel plus ticket didn't top £50ish. You should get a coach and match ticket all in for £50 I reckon. Time? It's a good 6 hours drive I'd say.
Sour Mash Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 Tough draw travelwise and for some reason I think we'll struggle to go through,if it's on the Tuesday though I can't see how Sunderland could turn out a decent side.
Whitey Grandad Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 You should get a coach and match ticket all in for £50 I reckon. Time? It's a good 6 hours drive I'd say. Yes, if I remember correctly the travel club used to reckon on 6 hours of driving, plus the rest stops, but we once got back from a Newcastle evening game before 02:30. That's without extra time of course.
Grey Crab Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 It's traditional for relegation-battlers to have a decent League Cup run, taking them to at least the semis. This means Sunderland will beat us.
the saint in winchester Posted 25 September, 2013 Posted 25 September, 2013 You should get a coach and match ticket all in for £50 I reckon. Time? It's a good 6 hours drive I'd say. The Flybe up to Toonland is pretty pricey and you'll need a night stop then back on the early bird plane, so you can't get rat-assed. OKay, you can, but stay awake all night then.
DT Posted 26 September, 2013 Posted 26 September, 2013 Tough draw. And they'll have a new manager by then.
Batman Posted 26 September, 2013 Posted 26 September, 2013 Tough draw. And they'll have a new manager by then. Was about to say that. But if you want to win the thing. You would have to be able to beat the bottom prem club Will just depend on how many changes each team makes Have no idea who we have in the league before or after Edit. Fulham home before, then stoke away
JRM Posted 26 September, 2013 Posted 26 September, 2013 Sunderland charged £10 a ticket in the last round v Peterborough , hopefully they'll do the same for this game , coach £25-£30 so could work out quite cheaply, would just be a long day sat on a coach getting back to Southampton about 4am!
david in sweden Posted 26 September, 2013 Posted 26 September, 2013 This will show how far we want to go in this competition, I would expect us to play a stronger side than we have so far to progress plus it might be against our good friend poyet! My thoughts too. The "bench /fringe " players get an outing when we play lower league sides, good for them (and good for MP to evaluate them), and of course not force regulars to avoid injuries and play two matches a week, but despite Sunderlands current league spot it won't be an easy fixture. Now that it's down to the last 16 ....can MP see the possibility of a trip to Wembley ?...or a future Euro spot?......Swansea and Wigan got in last season. Will be interesting to see the side he puts out, and how " interested " we are to have an extended cup run.
JRM Posted 26 September, 2013 Posted 26 September, 2013 we certainly can't look at this competition as a burden on our squad, while others are playing European football etc ours have had breaks and none of the "first team" have really been risked in the first 2 rounds. hopefully we won't have too many international call ups in October and all players come back fit from that. we now find ourselves in the last 16 with some of the bigger teams having tough draws, a win at Sunderland and a decent 1/4 draw and things will start to get exciting.
Sour Mash Posted 26 September, 2013 Posted 26 September, 2013 I reckon if they can't have both Newcastle and Sunderland at home on the same night, we'll be on the Tuesday as Man City are also playing on the Sunday with a 4pm k.o. so can't see them agreeing to a Tuesday fixture.
SNSUN Posted 26 September, 2013 Posted 26 September, 2013 I can see a stronger team being put out for this but probably still not full strength. One of the strikers will almost definitely start for this IMO.
