You should get a coach and match ticket all in for £50 I reckon. Time? It's a good 6 hours drive I'd say.

Yes, if I remember correctly the travel club used to reckon on 6 hours of driving, plus the rest stops, but we once got back from a Newcastle evening game before 02:30. That's without extra time of course.

Tough draw. And they'll have a new manager by then.

Was about to say that.

But if you want to win the thing. You would have to be able to beat the bottom prem club

Will just depend on how many changes each team makes

Have no idea who we have in the league before or after

Edit. Fulham home before, then stoke away

Sunderland charged £10 a ticket in the last round v Peterborough , hopefully they'll do the same for this game , coach £25-£30 so could work out quite cheaply, would just be a long day sat on a coach getting back to Southampton about 4am!

This will show how far we want to go in this competition, I would expect us to play a stronger side than we have so far to progress plus it might be against our good friend poyet!

My thoughts too.

The "bench /fringe " players get an outing when we play lower league sides, good for them (and good for MP to evaluate them), and of course not force regulars to avoid injuries and play two matches a week,

but despite Sunderlands current league spot it won't be an easy fixture.

Now that it's down to the last 16 ....can MP see the possibility of a trip to Wembley ?...or a future Euro spot?......Swansea and Wigan got in last season.

Will be interesting to see the side he puts out, and how " interested " we are to have an extended cup run.

we certainly can't look at this competition as a burden on our squad, while others are playing European football etc ours have had breaks and none of the "first team" have really been risked in the first 2 rounds. hopefully we won't have too many international call ups in October and all players come back fit from that.

we now find ourselves in the last 16 with some of the bigger teams having tough draws, a win at Sunderland and a decent 1/4 draw and things will start to get exciting.
