Can't believe the apathy on here considering this is by far our best chance of reaching Europe. Is it something to do with the Prem? This would have been a 4 page thread started the moment the final whistle went last night when we were in league one.

Is this cup really meaningless these days?

Think it's because the games are played so early in the season (for Prem clubs anyway). The focus of fans is still very much on the league atm, the FA Cup is the one that really fires people's imaginations because of the prestige and the fact that it's the chance to see your team lifting a trophy at Wembley at the end of the season instead of mid-way through.

For us to move to the magical next level, we need to be winning pots, and this is our best chance to kick on. Trophies galvanise support and raise profiles! COYR!...

As usual, home game preferably against a weak team - but not sure there's many non-Prem teams left.

Only Burnley, Leicester, and Birmingham.

The rest: Saints, Tottenham, Hull, Man City, Sunderland, Chelsea, Norwich, West Ham, Fulham, Man United, Newcastle, Stoke, West Brom or Arsenal.

Shame it wasn't closer otherwise I would have gone, can't justify a trip to Sunderland on a weeknight in the cup! Winnable game though and puts us into the Quarter Finals if we go through...

Um, no-one gives a toss about the FA Cup until the quarter-finals either nowadays. The prestige is practically non-existent as well. The 5:15pm final kick off time and integration within the league calendar on the same weekend as matches haven't helped.

How long do you think we'll have to wait for the date of this to be confirmed?

How likely is it that the game could be brought forward a week? Would be fairer in Sunderland than playing on the Tuesday of the allocated week.
